Excerpt: Great picture quality with vivid colors.
Clear sound. I attach it to my sound board to record my groups' performances without the noise from the audience. This is the reason I bought this camera in the first place. It took a short while, reading the manual, to figure out various features. Good Zoom but I wish it could get a little more range though. So far I love this camera.
Pros: Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound, Large Clear LCD
Easy to use, produces beautiful video, and it's been reliable for me.

Summary: I purchased the M500 new at the end of 2012. I own a few GoPro HD cameras, but I wanted something better for when I wasn't strapping a camera to my helmet or to a moving vehicle. I wasn't sure if it would be worth the money to buy the Canon or any similar product versus just using a GoPro with a handle and an LCD screen add-on. The first time I uploaded some footage to my computer I was immediately convinced that I had made the right decision.
"Low light performance is the best, indoor is superb."

Pros: Low light performance makes up for all the cons Decent access to manual controls Small and light (could be a con for some)
Cons: Not enough zoom for some Powered image stabilization (the most powerful IS setting) turns off whenever powered down or unit put on standby. Not very rational menu setup on the home key. Ergonomically not great Low resolution still pictures 2 mp
Excerpt: I've been using the Vixia HF M500 mostly to record live concerts. It does great it low lightting situations and the sound quality is surprisingly good. I thought I might have had to purchase an external microphone, but for the time being I'm quite happy with the sound quality of the internal microphone.
Highly recommended if you're interested in documenting concerts or any sort of indoor performances.
Pros: Easy to Use, Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound
Excerpt: I bought this camera for an upcoming cross country trip from the West Coast to the East Coast and back. I wanted a memory card media camera for easy transcription to various computers without much hassle. I also wanted HD results and got everything I wanted and more. It takes a little time to get used to this camera and its various features but once you learn how it's a cinch. The definition is amazing.
Pros: Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Zoom range/performance
