Great camera unless you want to video something in daylight

Summary: OK, first, let me say this. I do wear reading glasses when I am reading or looking at a small screen such as my blackberry or the video screen on this camcorder. The experience might be completely different for someone with perfect vision. I bought this camera to replace my old VHSC camcorder so it's definitely a Ferrari compared to what I was using. Bought it just before Christmas 2012 to video tape family for the holidays.
Summary: I purchased Sony HDRPJ710V for all of the bells and whistles. The Sony camera was good on specs but failed to deliver real results. It went back to Amazon. I owned a Canon HG10 camcorder, which was great little camcorder at that time 2007. So I purchased this little gem based on past experience with Canon. Its no frills camcorder. Great in low light. The camera takes good pictures too. Optical image stabilization is better than the Sony one.
Summary: The Bad: When I first picked up the camera, I was disappointed at the weight and feel. I'm sorry to say this camera does feel a little cheap. I like that it is light, but it kind of resembles the feel of a toy. I'm also no used to a LCD door that doesn't lock into place. If you carry it just by the "strap alone" (lightly swinging) the screen will eventually flip open. Also it is true (previous reviews) that the screen is no use in the "direct" sunlight.
Summary: The camera does everything you could want. I haven't been able to get the wireless transfers to work on my computer system but I think that has more to do with my lack of computer knowledge and equipment. However the more I use it the better it gets. I've been using it to video all of my activities and from motorcycles to fishing and just traveling I'm always impressed with it's sharp detail and color.
Summary: If you are moving from digital to HD camcorder, Canon is quality. This is a great little camera and with technology getting smaller, lighter and cheaper this camera rocks. The ONLY downside that I found is the lack of view finder. The screen is good but can be difficult to see in bright daylight. If you are a practiced shooter, this may not be an issue for you. The options of auto/manual settings give you a great deal of range to work with.
Summary: I bought this based on the reviewsi read on Amazon. I was NOT disappointed! Love the quality of the video recordings. The size is so very compact that it can fit easily in my purse. I recommend this camcorder.
Summary: Overly proud of myself right now. We got the Canon m50 camcorder for recording tomorrows outing but I was worried about the battery running out while we were shooting. Best Buy wanted $100 for a replacement standard battery and Canon sells their extended battery is $130! There isn't a portable battery pack available at the correct voltage either.
