Summary: Had no experience with video cameras prior to this purchase. Bought it for firstborn child. The camera is easy to use and the video is crisp and clear. The camera is a nice compact size so it is easy to carry. Fits in my hand perfectly when the camera is in use. Granted, I have only had this product since Christmas, but I feel confidant in highly recommending this camera to others.
Summary: I read up on camcorders before buying this one. I waited and waited until the price was right, and then I pounced. I put about $200.00 into camcorder accessories including a directional microphone, zoom lens, additional batteries, etc. My experience is that this little camcorder is amazingly stingy with battery power. I haven't come close to running low. Yes, the smart batteries cost about $90.00 each, but I only needed the one that came in the package.
Feels too light to hold up with professional use, but there is nothing else

Summary: So Far this camera seems pretty good....Excellent Video, cristal clear. The only thing is that it is all plastic..and very light....Maybe I am just use to a heavy camera, I really haven't used it that much yet just enough to try it out....I think the manual on it was about 276 pages or something like that...almost ran out of paper downloading it...And You will probably need a college degree to understand all that is in the manual...
Summary: The direct source had the best price around. The camera is all that I hoped it would be. Package was nice and secure. I would buy a canon camera again and go through direct source. No complaints.
Summary: I love this little Canon. I bought it as a second camera for doing two shots of my cooking show. I have a Canon XA10, which I love, love, love. This little Canon can hold its ground with my XA10. Good picture and good sound. You do have to manually program it to get the best results.
Summary: Clear precise video even in relatively low light conditions. I have noticed that if you are videoing something moving the video is not terribly clear but for still or low motion it is excellent at least in mp4 formatted video. I have not used the high def format since I do not have the computer capability to edit in that format yet. The sensor is supposed to be better per the advertisements and I agree.
Summary: I purchased Sony HDRPJ710V for all of the bells and whistles. The Sony camera was good on specs but failed to deliver real results. It went back to Amazon. I owned a Canon HG10 camcorder, which was great little camcorder at that time 2007. So I purchased this little gem based on past experience with Canon. Its no frills camcorder. Great in low light. The camera takes good pictures too. Optical image stabilization is better than the Sony one.
Summary: The Bad: When I first picked up the camera, I was disappointed at the weight and feel. I'm sorry to say this camera does feel a little cheap. I like that it is light, but it kind of resembles the feel of a toy. I'm also no used to a LCD door that doesn't lock into place. If you carry it just by the "strap alone" (lightly swinging) the screen will eventually flip open. Also it is true (previous reviews) that the screen is no use in the "direct" sunlight.
