Pros: Terrific camera, but software in camera and out is dismal. AVCHD and MTS are tragically flawed and secret. There is minimal control over exposure. There is no metadata. Nobody's PC can play your files well. Batteries cost more than camera and film.
Cons: AVCHD is deeply flawed. It succeeds in making something very simple rather complicated for no advantage. But it is documented under NDA. Even Adobe isn't strong enough to get AVCHD right, 20% of files appear flawed in transcode. The included Pixela software DVDs are useless. On the plus side no d...

Summary: I initially bought this product in 2010, the video camera was fantastic, however it managed to get wet and no longer functioned. I was so happy with the first one, that I bought the exact same one, this time from Electronics Club (third party shipper).
Summary: We bought this camcorder in 2/09, and have used it a total of 9 days/year since then. It developed a low-grade hum during the warranty period, which we thought we'd resolved with help from tech support. (Tech support was helpful, but nearly impossible to locate.
Summary: I bought this camera to capture video clips to be used in online learning programs. My prior experience with a camcorder was in Hi8 format or with my Kodak digital camera that also takes video (VERY easy to use and publish)!
Summary: I bought Canon HF100 5 months ago and was surprised to find that the video quality (even when recorded at the highest resolution) when played back on my HDTV (via HDMI) was very ordinary. I mean it is no better than the video quality of my five year old Sony TRV22E.
Summary: I purchased this camera as a replacement for my JVC GR-DVM70. I loved the idea of recording to solid state memory, and creating videos in high definition since I have two high definition tv sets. What I have learned is, the video format AVCHD is just not supported yet.
Summary: Don't but unless you want to run on a 32 bit system.
Pros: Nice camera, small, fits in the right hand well, no issues with taking a video.
Cons: The software that comes with the camera won't work with Vista 64 bit. So, if you like to watch videos you are out of luck. Canon tech support and Pixella (software that came with the camera) aren't any help. Oh, Canon tech support supervisor did suggest getting Adobe Premier Pro, but he didn't me...
Summary: Die Videokamera hat mir zunächst gut gefallen.
