AVCHD format. Very good quality videos, BUT demands a high power computer

fueledbymusic, Ebay
22 April 2012
  • Summary: This camcorder is incredibly good! The videos are as clear as those News cast videos!... YES you heard me right! The quality is unbelievably clear! But GOTTA have an HD TV. It handles the low light really good and has built in lights, NICE! What I like too is the built in 3.1 mp snapshot camera feature, with a flash! All this in one! The software it came with is simple to use! It's easy to make DVDs with it.

Good purchase for Canon quality

Overstock
24 October 2009
  • Summary: Bought this from Overstock as a refurbished product, but the camera looked like it was brand new. Happy with the purchase and Overstock's customer service. I bought this specifically for upgrading from a Panasonic PV-GS320 3 cdd camera, which admittedly was a great camera. I wanted to upgrade from standard def to high def and I've always trusted Canon's products. Also it seems that mini-dv, although great for archival purposes, is somewhat of a dying breed.

  • Summary: I wanted a General Porous HD Camcorder to shoot Vacations, Exhibits, Family Video and for my own video production team that doesn't break my budget. In My Review, I'll explain the Pros, Cons and how to over come the cons + other Camcorder tips (AVCHD Vs. HDV, Sony Vs. Canon Vixia HF10 Considerations

JB, Amazon
20 January 2009
  • Summary: This is the first high end camcorder that I ever purchased and overall I'm pleased with the product and particularly the quality of video. Having said that, buyer beware and understand that you are purchasing a purely HD format camera. There is absolutely no 'standard definition' option to shoot for smaller size files for e-mailing. Video shot with this camera is very high quality resulting in monster size files for even the most briefly shot video.

Nearly perfect

raynerts, Amazon
28 July 2008
  • Summary: I've had this camera for about a month and have shot numerous short videos in a variety of situations using the Easy mode. I'm very pleased with the results thus far. The good: Video quality - I couldn't be happier with the overall results Image stabilization works well Zoom is smooth and can be done very slowly or very quickly Handles low light really well (I was able to get the fireworks the neighbors were setting off at 10:30 at night) Start up time - you're shooting...

How to import video into iMovie on the Mac

J. W. Hoelter, Amazon
16 July 2008
  • Summary: This is a marvelous camcorder. Rather than repeat what some of the other reviews have mentioned, I thought I'd explain how to import video on the Mac, because it wasn't obvious to me. First, you must have an Intel based Mac running Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard). You also need iMovie '08, which comes with new Macs.

The best in its class but not without serious drawbacks

Pseudorandom Parents, Amazon
4 July 2008
  • Summary: First of all I'm quite sure that image-quality-wise it's the best camcorder one can buy below 2K. It is also probably the best compact camcorder and a great value. Downloading videos from internal memory is more painful than it should be and the included decoder cannot run smoothly enough on my new dual-core desktop. Also some of the controls are poorly designed and a bit sluggish ... but these are fairly minor drawbacks. One serious problem with it is the lens.
