Camcorder is excellent, but with flaw.

kangnian123, Ebay

  • Summary: The video quality is excellent, but it couldn't charge! I bought it without battery and charger for $177 a few weeks ago. I bought a Canon geniune BP808 battery (takes 10 days) and a Canon power adapter, the battery couldn't be charged. I returned the battery. Then I bought another Canon BP808 battery, it works properly, but still refused to be charged. Putting it on other Canon camcorder, everything was OK. So, the trouble comes from THIS Canon HF10. How should I do?

Disappointing

  • Summary: This camera is very light and easy to handle. My issue with the camera is that it is almost impossible to use in a normal indoor or family setting due to the total lack of wide angle. It zoooooms fantastically but it is really difficult to get the context correctly as you must so far away from the object you are recording.
  • Pros: Comfortable to Operate, Great Features, Great Picture Quality, Simple Controls
  • Cons: Flimsy Construction, Poor Battery Life, Poor Sound

Excellent Camera, Battery design stinks

  • Summary: Excellent camera, video is great in HD. Menus are a little confusing to navigate. Ergonomics of the camera are overall good, although the mode dial is uncomfortable to reach with a thumb. Small, fits in hand nicely for normal sized hands like me. Black shows fingerprint oils very easily but looks professional and overall better than silver in my opinion. Now for the battery..
  • Pros: Comfortable to Operate, Great Picture Quality
  • Cons: Complicated To Operate, Inadequate Features, Poor Battery Life

video format not as compatible...

bummed out but coping ok, B&H Photo
28 November 2008
  • Summary: video file format not as compatible as i was led to believe. the reviews all around were that it was VERY mac friendly, but that is ONLY (apparently) if you have the latest mac with iMovie 08, so i am SOL. i bought pinnacle PC software to edit on my wife's PC, so that works ok, but at the expense of not really getting the HDTV video output out. overall the HD part is overrated, i could have paid half as much and gotten the similar camera for less.
  • Pros: Elegant form factor, Great Features, Simple Controls
  • Cons: Flimsy Construction, Hard to hold but is able, Takes poor still photos, Uncomfortable

Nice camera but not for me

  • Summary: This is a good camera, but it wasn't appropriate for my needs. It's very "in between". It doesn't have lower end features like AV-in or lower res recording (720x480, 320x240). For that, I bought an inexpensive Aiptek flash camera which also shoots 720p HD. For the higher end features (3-chips, beefier lens) I'm waiting for Canon to re-issue the GL as a 3-chip, flash memory camera.
  • Pros: Great Picture Quality, Great Sound
  • Cons: Inadequate Features, Uncomfortable

  • Summary: Not a bad camcorder but capacity isn't enough. I'm tired of changing SD cards as well.
  • Pros: Reasonable picture quality.
  • Cons: Limited on capacity. High Def recordings need more storage space. The 16GB internal flash isn't enough, just over 2 hrs of HD recording at top quality. I should of gone for a higher capacity HDD/SD Hybrid camcorder that will give me the best of both worlds.

Prima.
  • Pros: Bildschärfe, Bedienung, Menüführung, Dateispeicherung
  • Cons: Farbkontrast manchmal grell, Aufnahmemodus - Wahlrad ohne deutliche Markierung
