Summary: I purchased this camcorder to do underwater HD video along with an Ikelite housing and Ikelite video light. I then started using it on my vacation trips to do above water HD videos as well as underwater shoots and was so impressed with the results that I wanted to post this review! I paid about $1,000 for the camcorder, Ikelite underwater housing , and Ikelite underwater video light... and the results underwater ...and above water have been amazing!!!
Summary: I'm a little new to 'prosumer' equipment. This Cannon HD camcorder is so close to broadcast HD video. Beautiful High Def pictures and very nice audio. I bought the Pro Rodes external mic and that is a very nice improvement for the audio. The 'mini advanced shoe' on the Cannon was not able to accept the Pro Rodes mic, so there is an adapter available. Uploading clips to the computer couldn't be easier.

Summary: I love this camcorder! It is exceptionally great for my video making. If you want to get a look at the video quality, search my youtube channel : KHxGuitar12 i have made a few videos using this camcorder.
Summary: I ordered this camcorder around June of 2010 and was pretty excited about it. When I got it it exceeded my expectations. It has a beautiful design and some awesome features. I really like the 24p mode that enables you to shoot scenes with a movie look. The only disappointment I have was the camcorder light. It doesn't shine bright enough. The other problem is battery life because it lasts virtually an hour and a half.
Summary: I bought the camera almost a year ago. All this time I enjoyed both an exceptional video quality and perfect stills. I don't know any other non-professional camera of a similar price tag providing such a successful combination. Until very recently, my only concern was of how to play the produced AVCHD files.
Summary: I have been using the Canon VIXIA HFS100 for about a year now. Since there has been a release of a comparable product, the HFS200, this is considered "last year's model". Given that the price of this camera has not gone down in comparison to the newer model should tell you something. I used this camera for our student newscast almost exclusively. I used it for news gathering in the field as well as interviews and I even used it to film a mini documentary (8 min.
Summary: I've been extremely satisfied with the HFS100 camcorder. I did buy additional Transcend 16GB Class 6 SDHC cards, an additional battery pack, Dolica ST-650 tripod, Adorama l-bracket, and a Rode microphone ... but that was all I needed to complete this package to my liking. I'm not a pro videographer nor do I intend to put hours into post-production work ... just a proud parent with a newborn trying to capture every waking hour on video.
Summary: Camera has been great to have over the last year. We've captured a lot of great moments, in HD, of our newborn that we would not have had. Overall, the camera is fairly easy to set up and use. The battery could be better bit to most of our shooting, it hasn't slowed us down as long as you charge after each use. We would buy this camera again. The colors and quality are great.
