Summary: I have the Canon VIXIA HF M31 and used an SD card to capture video. Everything was fine until I moved one of the clips to my mac from the SD card. Now the camcorder will not recognized the card. I had normally used this card in my Canon Rebel 3Ti, so I had it format the card to see if that would help. Still doesn't recognize the card. As a last ditch effort I moved all items from the card to "trash" on my Mac, essentially clearing all information on the card.
A great Camcorder, built solid, has good storage where no SD card needed

Summary: This is a good camcorder in which I highly recommend. The new Canon camcorders are junk compared to this because they are built cheap. The new camcorders no longer have a flash for the photo shots and no light for the video meaning they are only work in good lighting. Also they do not have a dedicated photo button meaning you have to touch the screen to take a photo. This camcorder has all that plus takes good photos and video and is built solid.
Summary: I already have one of these, and I needed another for a two camera shoot. I have used these cameras for short films, vlogs, and for filming promo videos for companies in my area. As an up-and-coming videographer, I recommend this camera for someone who can't afford the big professional cameras. They are good for full 1080p HD videography, and are easy to learn and use. The touch screen is a really nice feature.
Summary: 2 weeks in - So far so good. I have recorded at the beach and it brings a beautiful video out, but like many others have said the digital zoom is garbage... very unstable. Also I will note I do hear the noise as well of the stabilizer. Also videod fireworks for New years. The video came out surprisingly clear, a good even contrast for the colors, smoke and darkness.
