Summary: The G30 produces very sharp hd videos. The lens is very sharp with few signs of distortion. Its many options can seem confusing at first, but I like knowing that they are there when I need them. The G30 with Final Cut Pro or another full featured edit provide an excellent workflow from capture to the final product.
Summary: It's perfect! It's quite big and a heavy, not to big though, you'll get use to it. I used it to record and event, and it came out great quality with Adobe Premiere Elements 12, and HD in Blu ray with APE12.
Excerpt: I use this product mostly for making local small business commercials and home videos, many of which are entered into various contests. I find the manual focus to be absolutely phenomenal. All lights in the background are made into crisp, clear circles, rather than getting blurred out. The still images are not that great, but that isn't what the camera is really meant for. The starting kits provide just about everything you need to start a career in videography.
Pros: Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD, Zoom range/performance
Summary: It is the best camcorder I have owned so far. I have only used it a few times so far. Audio quality with the on board mic is very good - of course external microphones are better. Picture quality is noticeably better than my HDV 30. I have not noticed any vignetting like I had with my old cam. The 20X lens is great and so is the stabilization. It is a bit expensive for me but I could not find one for less with 60fps.
Summary: I preordered this camcorder before it was released and I've used it for 6 months for a very wide variety of ways. Indoor and outdoor sports including football, dance competitions, many different light conditions, below zero conditions to over 90 degrees. This camcorder works very well in all conditions from low light to bright outdoor winter light. Flawless.
Summary: Well worth the money to capture family memories. Great in low light, 20x OPTICAL zoom and like the rocker button for the zoom. Battery on par with other video cameras and after market batteries work as well as the canon. Lots of functions and options and awesome video. Touch screen similar to iphone for sensitivity. Compared with the HF G20, and Panasonic X920 and a clear winner the G30 proved to be.
Summary: I recently retired my videographer business and decided I still wanted to take video with a good, but not as expensive ($3500) camcorder. Yes I gave up great manual control in my Canon XH-A1 camcorder, but gained facial recognition and the ability to designate a focus point by touching and the ability to video tape in a compact form for multiple hours. With two SD card slots you could video tape for 10 hrs straight. The normal battery I good for a couple of hours.
