Summary: This camera is fantastic for quick run and gun shooting. Image quality is very good, it is very sharp, but it does lack the look of images that you get from a DSLR. I'm guessing this is due to the large depth of field, which you do have some control over, but due to the small sensor there is no comparison to a DSLR. But other than that this is a joy to handle, very easy to use, the focusing is great, the zoom is great (20X).
Summary: The camera is amazing. Love the manual controls, manual focus ring, image quality is superb. This will take some time to play with to get knowledgeable with all the controls. HOWEVER, I had to dock a star for not including a separate wall charger/AC charger for the battery. You have to charge the battery while it's connected to the camera. This is more than a slight inconvenience if you want to have a back up battery powered up while you are using the camera.
Summary: This is my first handy cam. Agreed that it is tad expensive among it peers but great out of the box features . Touch screen is good. Joy stick feels like been placed little out side the zone. Good battery and crystal clear video and image quality. No Built in memory which is obvious for almost professional grade Video Cam.
Summary: The G30 produces very sharp hd videos. The lens is very sharp with few signs of distortion. Its many options can seem confusing at first, but I like knowing that they are there when I need them. The G30 with Final Cut Pro or another full featured edit provide an excellent workflow from capture to the final product.
Summary: It's perfect! It's quite big and a heavy, not to big though, you'll get use to it. I used it to record and event, and it came out great quality with Adobe Premiere Elements 12, and HD in Blu ray with APE12.
Excerpt: I use this product mostly for making local small business commercials and home videos, many of which are entered into various contests. I find the manual focus to be absolutely phenomenal. All lights in the background are made into crisp, clear circles, rather than getting blurred out. The still images are not that great, but that isn't what the camera is really meant for. The starting kits provide just about everything you need to start a career in videography.
Pros: Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD, Zoom range/performance
Summary: It is the best camcorder I have owned so far. I have only used it a few times so far. Audio quality with the on board mic is very good - of course external microphones are better. Picture quality is noticeably better than my HDV 30. I have not noticed any vignetting like I had with my old cam. The 20X lens is great and so is the stabilization. It is a bit expensive for me but I could not find one for less with 60fps.
Conclusion: Let me start by saying it's a great camera. I bought it for personal use and I loved using it; had great video quality. But the audio was poor at best considering the quality of everything else. The internal microphones are on the top of the camera, just behind the lens. I could barely here what I was recording, but could hear the jets flying over and my breathing really good.
