Summary: I've only owned the Canon G30 camcorder for two days now, but it's been an absolutely amazing camera so far. Comparing the Canon HF G30 to the Canon HF M500 camcorder that I have used for recording church services over the last two years: * The video quality at 24Mbps AVCHD is as good as the M500 ever was. * The video quality at 28Mbps AVCHD is simply amazing, making the M500 look pretty unimpressive (until now I have always been impressed with the M500 camcorder).
Summary: Great camera for an average user, bought it to record my 4 month old. Could not ask for anything else, it's built like a tank and the screen is very responsive. I had a choice from the canon g20 and the g30 glad I choose the g30 for an additional $300. Buy it you won't regret it, I did extensive research and online videos this is a great buy for the money.
Summary: The HF G30 is a really nice camera, especially for the price. I am still getting used to it, so these are a few early comments. The lens is amazing. 20X and sharp and fast all the way. I got acquainted with the camera in Everglades National Park shooting wildlife, and the lens made just about anything possible. Even hand-held with a home-made shoulder brace. (It was hilarious watching people taking pictures of distant birds with their cell phones!
Summary: I work at a small college and was looking for something that would give me the highest quality video for the least cost. I think I found just what I was looking for. The video is excellent even in lower light. Photos need a little more light to keep from being grainy but pleased with that as well. I originally bought a Cannon Rebel T3i Photo camera I wanted to shoot photos and use the video when I needed it but it was hard to switch back and forth quickly.
Summary: This camera has it all: great low light capabilities, enhanced zoom compared to the previous HF g10 and HF g20 models, and manual and configurable controls placed in all the right spots. My christmas morning videos looked awesome and much better than last year when I had a different model. And I was able to really zoom in from the audience on my daughter as she performed at her christmas program. I would recommend adding an external mic to get the most from this camera.
I think video quality is good and the camera does have some heft to it ...

Summary: Putting the camera through some test right now. I think video quality is good and the camera does have some heft to it but to me, exudes quality. I am a little disappointed that the camera does not come with an operating manual. The quick start is just that, quick but then if you want to fine tune your capabilities you have to go into the pdf file....I wonder if everyone carries their computers with them? Get the drift?
Great features, Canon quality, watch what cards you use

Summary: An upgrade from a Canon Vixia HF11. Features I wanted were LANC connectivity for a tripod remote controller, and better handheld zoom control. This does well on both items. The viewfinder is a bit in the way, don't use it. Touchscreen display is great, although navigating menus takes getting used to. If there's one thing that I don't like, it's the set button beneath the front control knob. You can't feel it by touch, POORLY PLACED!
Excerpt: We bought this for a Disney vacation, but also kids birthdays and such. My wife talked me into spending the money for this one because of the low light reviews. Results - WOW! Playing back video on the 60 inch HDTV, it was like watching professional video. (We used a mono-pod extensively, which greatly helps with image stabilization.) Even the low light stuff looks very good.
Pros: Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Great Zoom, Zoom range/performance
Excerpt: This is a beast because it has many of the advanced controls found on professional camcorders and DSLRS. I love this camcorder, there aren't any problems with it so far. I have used HF S20's and HF G20's and this really takes it to a whole new game I love the battery life on this thing! It is worth it! Great for Broadcast Environments where long recording times are handy!
