Summary: I bought this camcorder after reading a lot of review. I was a Sony buyer up until now. I must say the picture quality is fantastic. But the software that comes with it, is totally inadequate. It does not even convert the .MTS files and create pure HD effect. So I had to go thru a lot of hoops (many phone calls to Canon support) and I still don't get the quality of pictures in my laptop, as I see when I connect the camcorder directly to TV via the HDMI.
Summary: I purchased this camcorder by accident. I wanted the model HF S20 instead, but this camcorder is super small. It has an internal memory, or you can use flash cards. It is a bit annoying switching between the two because you have to manually setup the camera to do that. Also, if you put in a card with a class higher than 6, it will not let us use some of the higher picture quality when recording. If this is your only camera you will love it.
Summary: The camera is outstanding the quality is great. The issue start after all the recording is done. The provided software is not good at all. If you purchase be prepared to fork over additional cash for pro grade editing software. For Mac users Imove doesn't work it will bring move into software but will destroy the quality. This is a know issue with Avchd video in Imovie.
"Good Camera, no download instruction, can't see in PC"
21 January 2010
Pros: Good Camera, records long footage picture quality is excellent.
Cons: Software that come with camcorder, is not great. it doesnot allow you load part of the video, the whole thing has to be done. Then i cannot watch the whole thing at a time. I have to watch each .MTS files separately. PAIN. I will never buy Canon.
Pros: Recording features are very good and having rich colors.
Cons: I allready spend more that 20 hrs, and I couldn't download the vedio out of my camcorder. I called both Canon and Pixela and both of them washed their hands. Canon stats its Pixela's responsibility, and Pixela confirms they are not ready for Win7.
Summary: Just bought this a week ago. Still getting used to the tiny size, and the lack of an optical viewfinder. However, unlikely to get used to the piffling battery life. 1 to 1 1/2 hours! Not even enough for a day trip to Disneyland. What am I supposed to do? Carry a charger everywhere? Or buy a $100 extra battery. Quite a spoiler for what appears to be a competent and friendly camera.
Summary: The camera itself seems to work just fine. I wouldn't know. I have been unable to upload video onto my PC. What I didn't know going into my purchase was that the HD video gets rendered in a format that requires specific software to upload it, view it and edit it on a regular pc. No problem because software comes with the camera to do all this stuff. Right? Wrong. Pixela, the product shipped with the camera is not compatible with a 64 bit operating system, which I have.
