Summary: Canon VIXIA HF M300 Full HD Flash Memory Camcorder I have not purchased this camera yet. I want to create a series of DVD's to demonstrate techniques to work with students in a classroom. The lighting would be classroom lighting. I also want to shoot family gatherings indoors and vacations outdoors.
Summary: It is obvious that this is a quality camcorder but I can't enjoy it yet. The menu system is not intuitive (I know DSLR menus much better)and there are specific menu options printed in the user guide that do not exist in my camera's menu system (e.g., the edit menu and the settings for recording to the hard drive + memory card). This is EXTREMELY frustrating. Also, the "trouble shooting" tips are of little help for missing items.
Pros: Good Image Stabilization, Great Picture Quality
Summary: Please be aware that hidden within the knowledge-base of Canon's website is the fact that this model (HF M300) does NOT convert HD (high def) files down to SD (standard def) as the description above would indicate. I ordered with the belief that the only difference was the absence of internal memory, but I was mistaken.
