Summary: I have had and used this camera for a couple of years now and am very satisfied with its video quality. Black levels are what they are with digital vs. older analog technology. Colors are good but not perfect. Facial recognition good. Photo quality pretty good, could be better. Remote control nice but could stand wider reception angle. Features and menus good.
Summary: Awesome camera. I'm not a huge fan of the touch screen but all of the other features are solid and live up to the Canon quality reputation. Excellent resolution. I love this Camcorder. I use it every weekend for youth sports and game film breakdown. HIGHLY recommend.
Still my favorite all-around HD camcorder, three years in, hands down!

Summary: Before I got a DSLR capable of shooting video, I got one of these for shooting video for social media and content marketing projects. While most of my colleagues were shooting on Flip cams, I opted for one of these for the features I would look for in a higher-end pro camera. It has great optics, good controls, a nice touch-enabled articulating screen, smart mini-hotshoe and more.
Summary: Got a good deal on this, found it to be well worth it. Not many gripes, but here they are: Not so good in low light. No surprise that, no camera I can afford is good in low light. The other one is that when taking photos, the onscreen display that appears covers the screen, so that I cannot tell if I want to keep the picture or not. It's covered with words, numbers, and a graph.
Summary: Have had this camera for a least a year and it's been with me on all my vacations and celebrations. In a nutshell it makes increadible HD video! It's produced wonderful video inside and outside with or without lighting. The only problem is when shooting at night, I have to manually set it for good video. Canon did a great job on this model and I'm soooooo happy I got it!
Good for small businesses or people who want to dabble in film.

Summary: There is hardly any manual settings available on the HF M300, however, it is easy to use and certainly shoots good pictures. The onboard video light is a joke unless you are six inches away from the screen.
Summary: For the price... a great HD video camera. We use it for home movies: birthday's, Christmas, kids sports, etc. The picture quality is fantastic. I followed the suggestions in several reviews on this site to adjust for low light recording. When I shoot outside I use automatic mode. When I shoot inside in low light I switch over to that custom mode. Negatives: included software is not very good. I couldn't get it to automatically upload my photos and videos.
Summary: Having purchased one of those old-school giant VHS camcorders years ago for $1200, this small, sweet camcorder was a dream for 1/3 the price I paid back then, and 1000 times better video! I love this little beast! My still camera is also a Canon, and in my opinion, nobody makes better cameras!
