Summary: I cannot get this camcorder to take a good video. I've tried using a tripod, but it didn't help. The video is just not of decent quality, it's too blurry. I received it as a present for Christmas so I didn't get to do any research on it myself. I would not buy electronics from Amazon, since you cannot return them. I'd stick with Best Buy, Staples or Office Depot for electronics myself. I would avoid this particular camcorder if I were you!
Summary: iMovie does NOT recognize the camera when you plug the USB in. And Mac does NOT recognize the .MOD file format. You can use Handbrake to convert it to a format that iMovie likes. An iPhone makes a better movie camera imo.
Summary: I tested this camera because our school bought one. I was shocked (not in a good way) by the initial video I took, so I did a quick comparison in various settings against my Flip cam. The Canon's picture was terribly inferior - very pixellated, very poor color. The good news is that the uploads into iMovie were very fast - but I never want to put that kind of video into my computer again. There have to be better options.
Summary: I bought this videocamera with high hopes, having lost my 200$ digital camera and not wanting to drag our VHS camera anywhere since my kids were young years back... The size of the camera and the screen seemed just right, and I enjoyed taking movies and pics with it right away on a family vacation. Seemed great, just reviewing images on the viewscreen. I was happy with the considerable zoom and the image stabilizer seemed good.
Summary: I purchased a Canon FS300 april 9,2010. For approx two weeks I was calling tech support in VA for help with this camcorder and finally On April 26, I finally spoke to a tech that knew that this camcorder was defective. All that time I could have returned it within 15 days to Best Buy online, but the agents don't know what they are doing. It took one day to get the UPS label, but two days to get to UPS.
