Conclusion The Canon FS11 is a good camcorder. The video performance is par-to-above average in moderate light, particularly the color. We wish it could have performed better in low light like the JVC GZ-MS11, but it didn't. This is a great camcorder for point-and-shooters or those who just want something they can turn and never have to mess with. The new Easy mode that Canon created this year is perhaps the best idiot-proofing we've ever seen. Read more
Convenient, well-designed camcorders that look pricier than they are, models in the Canon FS series--FS11, FS10, and FS100--nevertheless deliver typical budget video in line with their budget price tags. Read more

Camcorders that use flash memory storage are ideal for most PC users. Once you've shot your video you can quickly transfer the footage via USB for editing, archiving, posting online or burning to DVD. Flash memory is also lightweight and uses less power than a tape drive or hard disk. Canon's FS11 comes with 16GB of internal flash memory, which is enough for three hours and 40 minutes of recording. You could add a 16GB SDHC card to double that capacity for around £35. Read more

I ordered this camcorder and was almost sure it would not be compatible with my windows home premiuim vista 64 bit pc, but after going to the Canon FS11 web page I saw that they had serveral downloads and thankfully one of them was for vista 64 bit. I had called the software distributor ( Pixela ) and they had told me it would'nt work with the 64 bit system. ( THEY WERE WRONG ) It worked perfectly after downloading the updates. Read more
MOD files will not work with Windows Movie Maker. Tried Prism to convert to AVI but the results were awful. I thought it took AVI when I foolishly advised a friend to buy one because, "if it's Canon, it's good." My old ZR45MC Mini-DV blows it away as far as video and audio quality. So does my friend's FlipCam Ultra. Horrible choice for YouTube! I am VERY disappointed in Canon for making this (expletive deleted) hunk of junk and making me look like an idiot. Read more
I've really enjoyed the size, quality and convenience of this camcorder. I took it on our family trip to Disney, and was able to record hours of video on a full battery. By far, the good out ways the bad. BUT...I HATE having to use Canon's software to transfer my videos to my computer. The software is not user-friendly and you will have to purchase a 3rd party software to edit your video. Read more
I'm reviewing the FS10, which is identical to the FS11, but only has 8GB of onboard memory (to the FS11's 16GB). FS10 Overview - It took several evenings of searching review sites before I chose a Canon FS10. I've never owned a camcorder before, and I was after a simple budget camcorder that wasn't restricted to just 30 - 60 minutes of footage, which you're restricted to on the mini-DVD or Mini-DV formats. My use: reference material for paintings. Can I pause or freeze a frame of footage I've taken and then save that frame as a photo using the editing software that comes with the FS11. If I took a digital photo of the paused frame showing on the fs11's LCD screen using the macro on my digital camera - would it be clear? or grainy? thanks!
