FS100 is a superb value for an SD camcorder with external audio input jack
13 March 2014
Summary: The FS100 has an external audio input, making it about the most inexpensive camcorder with this feature. It's NOT really a microphone input, unless your microphone has a preamplifier. So don't expect to use it with a computer microphone directly. Unlike the FS10 and FS11, the FS100 does NOT have built-in flash memory. You need to use a standard size SD card of class 2 or faster (no problem nowadays).
Can't beat the Canon FS100! Great videos, lightweight, simple to use!!!

Summary: This is a GREAT little camcorder! The price is certainly right, and it delivers a lot for a small price tag! I'm nearly 60 years old and this is my very first camcorder, so it HAD to be lightweight and fairly easy to use. Got mine on eBay for a super price! It came without the manual, but I found the free download at Canon.com! I also recommend getting a 16GB memory card, though the 8GB that came with it gives me over 2 hours even in XP mode.
Summary: I have a Mac and have had trouble finding a camcorder compatible with the OS X system. Was initially frustrated with this one too, but found a simple conversion program for $8 that puts videos shot with this little honey right into manageable status with my my iMovie! Woot!
Excerpt: I have previously owned a couple other camcorders. When we decided to buy another one, I wanted one that was smaller and easy to use. I have had good luck with this camcorder. We have owned it for over a year and we were able to record graduations, Christmas programs and family holidays. I have been able to upload the videos to my computer without any trouble. I love the 2000x digital zoom and the 48x advanced zoom.
Excerpt: We purchased this camcorder in 2008 and have loved it ever since! It has been very reliable and still works just fine. It is very easy to use and works great for about any kind of recording. The small size is great because it is not heavy and is not hard to hold. The zoom works great and picks up objects quite well. We use ours for younger siblings' sporting events and it has done a great job.
