The Canon FS10 is a camcorder that features dual flash memory that offers quick response and playback time, low power consumption rate, and is more shock resistant than other recording storage systems. It also minimizes the chance of data loss due to damage to the recording media or the moving parts in other camcorders. On top of the 8 GB internal flash drive, the camcorder also supports an SDHC Memory Card via its card slot, allowing users to use higher capacity memory cards to further increase the video storage of the FS10. The FS10 features a 1.07 Megapixel CCD image sensor, Canon 48x Advanced Zoom with both wide angle and telephoto positions, DIGIC DV II image processor that is designed for high definition recording; as well as Advanced Zoom in default mode or a 37x Optical Zoom or a 2000x Digital Zoom. Users can shoot five 1152 x 648 still images per second. The camcorder comes bundled with Pixela ImageMixer Software that lets users organize, enhance, and share video. It allows users to transfer video to computer via an application launcher, burn an AVCHD DVD or Standard Definition DVD, features a catalog system that keeps videos indexed and organized and allows users to trim, reorder, or combine scenes. It also allows users to add scene transitions, music, and titles. The camcorder also features a built-in video player that allows users to play AVCHD or MPEG-2 data files on a computer. The Pixela ImageMixer can convert a movie to a file format compatible with web video sharing sites and allows users to resize their movie for online posting or viewing on portable entertainment devices.

The cameras we bought are used for various "presentation skills" classes where students record a short presentation and then play it back to review and critique it. Our primary consideration was ease of use for the instructor. Of course we also had secondary considerations like cost, quality of image, media cost, and availability of external mic jack (that mic jack is extremely rare with the current... Read more

It fits nicely in my hand. The basic controls are easy to find and use. The LCD panel is bright and easy to see on a sunny day. The battery seems to have a reasonably long... Read more
