Summary: I recently began using this camcorder again to create direct to mini-DVD recordings to leave with folks who can then pop them directly into a DVD player, so I thought I should add a review of this 8 year old technology.
Summary: This is my second DC 22. I bought my first one 5 or 6 years ago, and only had to by another one because my first one quit reading discs recently. I like the dvd format and the ease of use. Great Camcorder!
Summary: I am just learning to use this camera. I loaded the supplied Roxio MyDVD for Canon software on my computer and plugged in the USB cable. When you go to the video capture screen it says that this version of the software, MyDVD LE, does not support image capture.
Summary: We received this camera as a gift. We loved the features and the nice crisp image... until we tried to watch it on anything other than the camera's own tiny screen. My husband is pretty computer-savvy, but we couldn't get the camera to connect via USB without crashing the computer. Every time.
Summary: While I have some reservations about this camcorder, I believe that it is the best mini-DVD recorder for most people. Briefly: this camcorder is easy to use, can take decent pictures and excellent video at a reasonable price.
Summary: Received this item as a gift, was so thrilled to have it for the kids first day of school. Luckily I was playing around with it the day before and found out what a piece of crap this camera is.
Excerpt: Canon, the popular brand for digital cameras and printers have unveiled a new camcorder model No. DC22 DVD Camcorder which has a pricing of about 700 Us dollars.I viewed the camcorder model in a fair held in our city and I was impressed in the first sight itself. I liked …
Summary: I bought two extra Canon batteries, a charger, and a wrist strip, but availability of these items was limited, even from Canon???
Pros: The DC22 camcorder is full of features and easy to learn, if you spend some time with the Canon manual. The DC22 will record to a DVD-R DL disk, extending recording time to one hour. Newegg gets another thumbs-up for service.
Cons: I returned the DC22 to Canon for warranty service based on a Service Notice posted on the Canon web site. The Canon factory service was acceptable. The velcro grip belt on the camcorder is somewhat inadequate making it a good idea to attach a wrist strap to prevent your DC22 from falling....it pr...
Summary: Warning: Do not buy this camera if you expect to do anything other than record pictures and view them on the small window! The support software is hidious and will not work. You CAN NOT connect to a computer using the ROXIE software and the software upgrades are a bait and switch!
Summary: Buy at least one extra battery and a charger. A battery can be charged in the camcorder, but who wants to sit and wait for the charge to complete when you could be out having some fun with a very nice camcorder.
Pros: The DC22 is small and easy to handle. The widescreen LCD is easy to see when recording, even in bright sunlight. It's quite easy to pop in a DVD and begin recording (after you charge the battery)without any knowledge of all of the extra features packed into this camcorder. Newegg's service and pr...
Cons: If you're into attempting to use some of the built-in features of the DC22, the Canon manual is difficult to follow and the Canon tech support leaves something to be desired....but trial & error will get you there!
