Not in the same league as previous Aiptek HD camcorders

Summary: I have purchased three Aiptek HD camcorders and still have two in use - and like the quality of the videos. It looks like they tried to cut every corner to reduce the manufacturing cost of this unit (and still sell it at about the same price). With all three of the previous Aiptek camcorders, I though they were well worth the price (~$80) but I sent this one back because it is inferior IN EVERY WAY.
Summary: I've had an Aiptek MPVR for a few years, and it works fine, given that it is Standard Definition, 640x480. The colors are well saturated in bright light, and the focus is reasonably sharp. When new it included a charger and one battery, with extra batteries available. Recording time on a 2GB SD card was about an hour. You can't expect too much from camcorders like these.
Summary: The year was 2006. YouTube had just gotten popular and I got this camera to join in on the craze. Even then I knew it wasn't top of the line, but I also knew I didn't have $200 to spend. This camera didn't have the best battery life in the world, but what it did have was a great low light function, good sound (for the time) and an amazing shelf life. This thing literally stopped working a month ago. 6 years folks. Sure it's not HD but back then it didn't matter.
Summary: I had this model before and it lasted about 3 years. I was happy with it and the price was right, so I found another one. Unfortunately this one stopped working after just a few days. Very disappointing.
Summary: They don't tell you until you actually RECIEVE the item that it doesn't come with a battery! So now I need to try and find a battery for it. Wish I could review how the quality and everything is but without a battery I'm out of luck. Not only that, but the camera wasn't packaged correctly. It was just thrown into a box, no wrapping, nothing, left to just roll around. It has scratches on the side too. Which I'm assuming is from being thrown in the box without a care.
Summary: I do not understand all these reviews knocking the product. This is a superb camcorder for the money. I suspect that these negative reviewers do not know how to use the product. One reviewer actually said he didn't like it because the battery wouldn't recharge. It doesn't even have a built in battery. It uses two AA batteries. I use NiMH 15 minute rechargables so I seldom have to buy new batteries. This product takes great pictures and great videos.
Summary: a very nice little thing, for a little money you can have all functions that fit our need at reasonable quality, it is small so you can carry around, the video at daytime and night time are good quality!. The sound are good too. I really enjoy and love this little thing. The still pictures are good too. With AA battery we don't worry about the future that the battery worn out and have to throw away the camcorder.
