Zotac ZBOX Blu-ray HD-ID34

9 June 2011
  • Excerpt: At Xtreme CPU we love to test, almost as much as GLaDOS loves to test.  I just happened to have a need for a Blu-ray player so my family could watch movies, so after our initial Zotac review I decided to grab the Intel and nVidia Ion based Zbox. This Zbox comes in a familar small form factor case, and being such a small unit, is quite low powered In this review we will specifically comparing performance of the AMD E-350, to this Atom D525.
  • Pros: Build quality was great, Playback was flawless, System works well
  • Cons: Lesser performance, Only 2 USB ports for loading Windows

Zotac ZBox Blu-ray HD-ID34 Nettop / HTPC Review

14 May 2011
  • Excerpt: Nettops are not nearly as popular as their mobile contemporaries, i.e. netbooks, arguably due to the lack of any significant horsepower within the tiny machines. Up until now, most nettops have been good for little more than basic Office duties, Web surfing, and occasional 720p (max) movie playback.
  • Pros: Great Nettop Performance, Stylish Design, Two USB 3.0 Port, Avaialble Mini-PCIe Slot, Can Handle Some Gaming, Blu-ray Drive Included
  • Cons: No Bluetooth, Gets Quite Warm With Use, Bring Your Own OS/Keyboard, No Bundled Controller

Expert Review

15 November 2010
  • Conclusion: Although the Atom CPU has a much lower performance than the Core 2 Duo found on the Mac Mini, the most taxing thing I’ve ever done on an HTPC is play a full 1080p Blu-Ray movie or an MKV file with extremely high bitrates. For that purpose, the Zotac Zbox works just fine and I did not notice any drop in frame rates even while playing the most demanding movies in full HD and 7.1 audio.

Zotac ZBOX Blu-Ray HD-ID34 Review

19 October 2010
  • Conclusion: The Zotac ZBOX HD-ID34 is an elegant HTPC capable of playing back DVDs and Blu-Ray discs straight from the optical media. It can be wall mounted next to your display and connected with a single HDMI cable. Most users, however, will want to run a RJ-45 cable to a wall outlet for HD streaming as the Wireless-N connections, in general, do not deliver enough bandwidth (heavily dependent on the home setup).
