Works as New Server: Easy and Quiet

Neilah Desiree, Amazon
  • Summary: Easy and so amazingly fast. I love the feature of attaching to wall and how compact it is. Took a bit of planning to make sure that I could still see to plug in accessories. I have wireless keyboard, looking at wireless monitor(s). It is very quiet and plan on running full time. I cannot think of a complaint. Received quickly and in nice package. Comes with mounting bracket and DVD attached. Just plug in cables/power and off you go.

Easiest install yet

  • Excerpt: Purchased as a replacement for an administrator's work station on a small network. This came out of the box, plugged in, found the network, installed all needed updates, and loaded all of our mission-critical software with as much effort as it took to read to this point. We've been networked since 1985 and this is the first time we've had a totally seamless equipment swap. Its been on line for about a month as of this writing and the machine has done nothing but work.No...
  • Pros: Easy To Set Up, Never Freezes, Quiet
  • Cons: No Built-in Wi Fi

Great for Workstation power user

Mark Anvoots, Amazon
23 May 2014
  • Summary: I just bought a second one of these. The first I added 4gb ram for total of 8 and swapped out the SATA drive with an 750GB SSD drive. Boots fast to the domain and is up and ready to log in in less than 15sec. It handles 10-15 excel windows, RDP sessions, Large outlook database open and numerous other apps running without a hitch. If you are looking for a powerful, versatile, small footprint workstation alternative, this is your machine.

  • Excerpt: After months of experience using this computer, we have realized that purchasing it was a grievous error. It demonstrates the deplorable fact that reliability and quality have never been, and never will be, objectives honored by the computer industry. This computer has crashed repeatedly and exhibited peculiarities that would be the cause of outrage if this were a new automobile rather than a new computer.

Excellent If You Want Win 7 And Extra Firepower

S194708,, TigerDirect.com
20 March 2014
  • Summary: Excellent replacement computer for those dealing with end of support for Windows XP. Fast and easy setup. Startup OS is Win 7 Pro 64-bit so you don't have to deal with Win 8 if you don't want to. Plenty of USB ports (10), especially USB 3 ports (6). Small footprint. Excellent choice for those who want the Win 7 OS and need extra firepower such as for heavy duty number crunching.

Update

TestPilot, B&H Photo
17 February 2014
  • Excerpt: This is an addendum to my previous review. Sometimes, a perfectly trivial part of a complex product will have a disproportionately large effect upon the usability of the whole system. The mouse included with this computer is an excellent example of this. It's a dreadfully cheaply made device, although easily replaced. You don't even need to power down the computer to do it. But, it's not that simple. The problem?

Overall a solid entry for Lenovo workstations

Tsaico, Amazon
7 February 2014
  • Summary: The drive is fast and the USB ports are placed well. The overall construction feels good too, and the base allows for the unit to stand on it's side, similar to how a Wii does, slightly angled up. What I love most about this is the built in 3 monitor displays, though two are display ports, and very few monitors have that.

Adequate

TestPilot, B&H Photo
9 January 2014
  • Excerpt: This computer probably falls into that category of good enough for most use but not exceptional at anything. Even with 24 gigabytes of RAM, it is not noticeably light on its feet. Much worse, there is almost no internal expandability. While the mounting slots for additional internal drives are obvious, equally obvious is the lack of power and data connections for those drives. You can install a drive controller, but where do you get the power for the drives?
  • Pros: Easy To Set Up, Quiet
