Summary: I got this because it had USB 3 and I already had a plugable usb 3 docking station that I use with my laptops. This just fit right in. I can use one output for every thing - keyboard, mouse, display, sound. much less clutter. I simply unplug from laptop and plug into this one. The hard disk space is very generous. speed is slow - but cant complain - it is a super cheap computer. good for surfing, picasa and such. good place to backup those photos.
Summary: First thing I did when I got it was wipe windows 8 from the drive. That was a HUGE process though since they lock the drive so I had to do a few hours of research to figure out how to remove the legacy setting in dos, or whatever its called. Once I was able to remove Windows 8 I was able to get a better idea of how the system performs. I use this for 3 things..
Summary: Load of Windows 8 from factory had terrible performance and was nearly unusable. After reload of OS machine performs well for what I need. Hardware appears adequate so it might have been a bad image from the factory. Lenovo support was NOT helpful with their only suggestion being to return the unit. No troubleshooting skills there at all.
Summary: I bought this to use as a networked Home Media gizmo... I moved most of my movies and stuff on to it and use VLC to play them. Windows 8 takes a few minutes to figure out... drag your mouse left right up down corner to corner to help figure it out.
Summary: The previous reports that stated that the "controller " was advertised as being included in the box, and when delivered, was found not to be included, are correct. Even though Amazon removed the product from the shelves for a period of time, due to complaints about misrepresentation, when it reappeared as being available to purchase, I thought that the "controller" would be included, it is NOT included.
