Summary: This beautiful workstation is advertised as easily upgradable, and expandable, but not so. The critical parts are not available from HP or resellers, and none to be found. So the main reason for buying this over priced boat anchor was a hoax! It does not matter if no tools are necessary if the parts cannot be found. The Z1 is just over a year old and I was told everything from it is too new for parts to be available, to it is too old and HP does not support parts for it.
Summary: I bought this model in Australia, but was astounded when i opened the box and saw Wired keyboard and mouse, and only a dvd reader, (yes this is in the specs but was hoping it was a mistake Hp are known for this, but took the risk as I really wanted this). I was hoping seeing they are so expensive that these would be included. I ended up getting a slot load blu ray from ebay and it was easy to open it up and replace the dvd writer, thats the benefit of this machine.
Summary: Warning: This is not for girls or single men! Its a big buxom blond with attitude that sits on your desk like it owns it and begs to be used. I love its speed, looks and sturdiness and if you get bored with its performance, insert some more RAM and an extra hard drive. The wife of course hates it, perhaps slightly envious as it never gets old.
Summary: Works amazing, when it works!! Within less than a year the motherboard died and it had to be replaced. Boot up time is quite long as compared to an iMac. Had the motherboard not died so soon, would probably recommend this AIO.
Summary: You have review this as an alterative to Mac and i think you are forgetting the CAD audience. The Z1 is perfectly suited for the CAD arena with the Quadro graphics, large screen and the upgrade options. The All-In-One design keeps the the wires to a minimum and the 2560x1440 allows you to have a good working area while keeping the toolbars on the screen.
