  • Summary: Had a couple scratches but otherwise a a nice buy. There are other refurbs out there around the same price, but this is a good buy if u interested in a higher power pc. I got this to use as a server and it performs well.

HP Z400 Workstation Quad Core Xeon 3.2GHz 6144MB 2TB DVDRW Windows 7 Professional (64-bit) MT Computer (Refurbished)

Justin A., Overstock
4 October 2015
  • Summary: I haven't started truly playing with this computer yet as I just now got the editing software that I plan on using. So far, this is one of the fastest computers that I personally have ever had. I would recommend for others getting started in editing as well.

Not exactly as advertised

James C., Newegg
30 June 2015
  • Pros: High performance, PC is in very good condition, very clean (I have a z400 at work that's pretty much been on continuously for the last 5 years with no issues..these machines are built to last. The OS does not contain media (the usual case). I swapped in a Samsung SSD from a laptop that is being r...
  • Cons: only came with 3x2GB RAM, not the advertised 8GB. The machine has 6 slots, but the HP manual online says to install memory in threes.

good but not 100% satisfied

Alexander T., Newegg
20 June 2015
  • Summary: I bought two of these systems and both had the above inventory issues. However I didn't bother doing an RMA since it would be a bit of a hassle. Instead I'll buy some more memory. Unfortunately Newegg can only do an RMA on the whole PC, and can't send me a 2 GB memory DIMM.
  • Pros: Very clean system, looks almost new. Runs great. Was shipped with care and had great documentation. Top quality refurbishment job. Runs very quietly, and is a very well built system. I really like it. I was surprised that it came with a USB keyboard and a wired USB mouse. Windows 7 activated with...
  • Cons: Not quite as advertised. Only came with 6 GB of memory instead of 8 GB as noted in description. Also installed video card also differed from description (shipped with AMD Radeon). Not that big of a deal. A minor annoyance is that there were no extra screws for additional disk drive installations....

XEON in name only... not performance.

Thomas L., Amazon
6 March 2015
  • Summary: The Z400 remanufactured work station as shipped DOES NOT look like the picture in the ad. It was spray painted a silver color that was still tacky and very smelly when I opened the package. I needed to use a hair dryer to harden the spray paint.

What I expected, except....

Paul H., Newegg
9 February 2015
  • Summary: If you're going to order a refurb, do yourself a favor and order all the RAM you'll want with it. These pro systems can take only particular RAM types and they sometimes cannot be mixed and matched. Plus, new RAM is always more expensive than the RAM included in the system.
  • Pros: It's exactly what I expected. I dumped Windows and threw Linux on there. It runs very well. It's also very quiet. . Which is fine for what I need. The case was in very good condition and the inside was clean and in good order. In the future I might shop for refurbs before new systems, especially ...
  • Cons: It came with Nvidia Quadro board with the VESA 59 connector. I wound up ordering a dongle through another retailer because I couldn't find it on NewEgg. It would have been nice to know ahead of time or to include the dongle. (I would rather have had the VESA 59 connector than the mouse and keyboa...

HP Z400 Refurbished

Angel A., Newegg
22 January 2015
  • Summary: Refurbished beats new every day of the week and twice on Sunday!!
  • Pros: This machine works flawlessly. It boots up fast, has both the RAM and HD space to accommodate my small accounting practice. It's quiet and aside from an annoying blinking blue light when it's in sleep mode, is inconspicuous.
  • Cons: None

FANTASTIC VALUE

Douglas K., Newegg
9 November 2014
  • Summary: Having read the comments on this machine while it was being sold by PCMICRO I too recognized the faulty placement of the ram chips. Just follow the table inside the door of the machine. The machine came with a 500gb hard drive not the 320 as advertised. The XEON cpu is running at 3.27 MHz not 2.53.
  • Pros: Very inexpensive, exceedingly quick, takes 24gb ram total. Machine includes many upgrades as it comes with Shipped quickly by FedEx. Well packaged. An amazingly well equipped and fast machine for a bargain price.
  • Cons: Memory misplaced - not in right slots-easy fix-diagram on door inside machine. Very easy to rectify.
