Summary: Unit had to be returned to maker for repair; a 2 week elapsed time exercise. PC is fine upon return. It appeared that this was not its' first trip back to HP. Feel it is not worth the savings to buy a refurb in terms of time and frustration.
Summary: It was disappointing when the new PC arrived because it would not boot up. After contacting the HP service tech online he had to talk me through removing the hard drive and re-installing it so that it would re-set. Apparently it ha become dislodged during shipment. All seemed fine until I tried to use the webcam.... No joy, I could not get it to work so I had to contact the service tech again!
Summary: This appears to be a good product. The problem of mine is that the Media center does not find the satelite signal. HP repaired the tuner howewer it still does not work. The problem appears to be with the software and there the real problem starts. HP advises that they have no means to correct or replace the software,Microsoft again refers you to the computer manufacturer you then caught in an loop without solution.
Processor speed? 2.8Ghz vs. 1.6Ghz for HP 520-1070
25 July 2012
Summary: I'm confused on the correct process speed. Amazon site states "Intel Core i7 Processor 2.8GHz", and HP site states "Intel Core i7 Processor 1.6GHz" for the HP 520-1070. I called HP and they stated "that's why you buy direct vs. via a reseller" because our information is accurate and from the source. That said, I think Amazon is correct and HP is wrong as 1.6GHz doesn't make sense and doesn't seem to follow logic.
Summary: Bought this computer, and installed Ubuntu Linux. Linux doesn't work. It is not my first installation, and Ubuntu worked on previous computers. Tried to reinstall, to no avail. It is bad by itself, and also, if Linux doesn't work, this means that the computer is non-standard, and any other software may or may not work. The home network breaks all the time. So many times happened that my laptop and this computer suddenly don't see each other.
Summary: This is my fourth TouchSmart, maybe because I'm not to smart. All I want or need is a good dependable computer that is as portable as possible to haul twice a year to our second home. Like a big screen and speed is nice, but have never used the touch screen. Anyway the TouchSmart all in one models fill my modest requirements. My first TouchSmart was a 20" Model 320-1223.
Summary: Purchased the Hp Touchsmart 520-1030 from amazon it's a functional very well put together computer, all worked well except the internet explorer, it would open some web sites and not others. Tech support was helpful but the issue could not be resolved. Had to return the product. Will purchase the Item again as soon as the issue is resolve.
