Don't Buy HP Slimlines
10 January 2012
Summary: HP Slimlines are junk, mine burnt out its motherboard twice with light use. Slimlines have heat problems and HP customer service doesn't care that you just wasted your money on them. They will be laughing at you, if you buy their crappy products.
Summary: In years 2 and 3, I have replaced the power supply three times at nearly $100/PSU. And now no video signal - the monitor powers on fine and works with an older HP and dell tower. The tower powers on, makes the typical startup noises but after the keyboard blinks, there are no (busy) lights signaling...
Summary: Bought this unit New and worked fine for 1.5 years then CMOS errors. Found the reset CMOS worked several times and just get the unit powered on all the time. When the power went out, the system shut down and wouldn't come back.
Summary: I bought this machine purely for it's price, you can't beat $370 for a computer, or can you? Be aware, this machine has no wireless card and no built in speakers. If you want to surf the web and play video or music, you need to buy a wireless adoptor for $40 and a pair of USB speakers for $15 (not a...
Summary: I bought this computer aware it was a typical poorly designed layout. Maybe Dell designed it for HP! I had the replacements to make it work properly and it now does. I would never recommend this model or maybe any mini unless you have the knowledge and access to the upgrades necessary.
Summary: I bought this computer four years ago and is still going strong. I did have to add another gig of RAM to run VISTA. But it has worked flawlessly. Highly recommend this computer. Have had no software compatability problems.
Summary: I got this machine in an equipment swap. The basic system is okay as a "Slimline". I have assembled better quality Mini-ITX (E.g.[...]) and Micro-ATX (E.g. [...]) solutions. If (a) the noise level is acceptable to you and (b) it performs well-enough for you, then you have no worries.
Summary: Bought this computer in June 2008. Immideately the computer had issues running vista's automatic update. Was in constant contact with HP and Microsoft trying to fix it. Ended up reformating computer and reinstalling windows several months later.
Summary: I got mine at Best Buy and I've liked it a lot. It is very quiet! I haven't had any problems except with the hard drive. It started dying about a year after I got it. But I had it replaced and haven't had any more problems with it.
