Pros: I've been passively looking for a computer to use as a home server for about a year. When I saw this deal, I couldn't resist. The parts included cost about $480, even on good Newegg deals. I bought this for under $330, and it was an absolute steal. The A8 7600 is a very capable processor, and actually runs most modern games on medium without a discrete card, if you're into that sort of thing. It almost worked out of the box(I'll get to that in the cons), and looks bra...
Cons: OK, there were a few things I didn't like with this refurb, but nothing that would dissuade me from buying again. They are as follows: It would be nice if it came with the cage for the hard drives and you could optionally remove it like I have with all my other HP machines. However, 2TB is plenty for me, I like the airflow, and there are plenty of USB 3.0 ports to use external drives at almost SATA speeds. OK, now the important con. when I received this and got it all...
Summary: I'm giving it five stars to compensate for some two star reviews, if not for those I'd probably give it four. It's a good machine for what it is, a prebuilt value system from a major manufacturer. It _should_ have two sticks of RAM but that's not a deal breaker for me, I just ordered a matching stick. I wanted 16GB anyway. I added in an MSI R7 250 1GDDR5 which works fine with secure boot on and legacy off only _after_ upgrading the VBIOS from MSI.
Pros: Great "bang for the buck" system. A8 is pretty fast. Integrated R7 video is pretty fast for light gaming. Works well with Windows 10 technical preview. Does have a 2.5" bay for an SSD.
Cons: Build quality isn't great. Limited expandability. Should have 2 sticks of RAM. A lot of work to "downgrade" to Windows 7.
Summary: Great value on a speedy and quick PC. This PC works as well for any student, family, or even an office. Obviously if you are running CAD or large desktop publishing files you are going to understandably spend more. But for most folks, this PC will more than suffice. PLEASE NOTE that no restore disk or Windows COA sticker comes with the unit.
Pros: - Very quiet. You hardly know it is turned on. - Small footprint - Fast boot - Wireless and Gigabit Ethernet -64 bit OS - 2 TB hard drive (drive spins down to save energy when not in use) - Fast in general - Qualifies for the free upgrade to Windows 10 when released later this year. - Will run Linux if you prefer
Cons: - Win 8.1 (on a positive note, it qualifies for the free upgrade to Windows 10 when released later this year) - keyboard and mouse are kinda cheap feeling, but work fine. I replaced them with a wireless set. - No serial port to plug in my UPS monitoring cable. (not that big a deal as I can do without, add a serial card, or upgrade my UPS).
Pros: This came in looking like new! Still had the plastic protector on, I could not be better pleased with this computer. It is fast and the 8g of memory is an added bonus. It has 4 slots so it can be expanded to 32g. The 2 usb3 ports in front and the 2 usb3 ports in back with the additional usb2 ports is just gravy.
Cons: The only drawback is it would be difficult to add an additional hard drive inside the case. But with 2TB HDD it has a lot of room for files, so that's a minor con. Only a 90 day warranty, but you can buy an extended warranty if you like. But in my experience electronics usually break down in the first 90 days and if they don't they usually last pretty well.
