Summary: I bought this model two years ago as a desktop to supplement and replace my aging Sony laptop. Two years and one month later, the machine failed with all of my files and data trapped inside. HP support was helpful in trying to start it, but, after running all of the tests, they said that I would have to send it to them for repair at my expense since the warranty ended one month to the day before the computer failure.
Summary: Windows 7 is the way to go. I've been using this HP for about a month. Everything works great. Very fast, and easy to connect all my accessories. I've been an HP fan since 1992, and this computer lives up to the HP name.
Summary: I loved this computer for the 15 months it lasted until the hard drive crashed. I decided not to buy a new hard drive and see if I could get it going again, since it didn't trust the quality of the remaining components. To me, over $550 is too much to pay for a computer that lasted 15 months. So I will not buy a HP product again. I bought a Dell as a replacement and am hopeful it will last.
Summary: This is a replacement for my 7/8 year old PC which experienced a hardcore meltdown. I wanted to upgrade to a faster processor and more hard drive space. This PC does all I need, the Window's 7 works very well.
Summary: I strongly discourage anyone from buying the HP P6610f or a comparable HP desktop computer with similar components from Amazon or any other vendor. In November 2010, I bought mine brand new from Amazon (about 10 months ago), paid about $600, and thought I would enjoy it for use with my home-based consulting business. Amazon is one of my favorite online shopping sites.
Summary: Bought this for my wife a few months ago. For less than $200, added 8M of RAM, a 500w OCZ power supply, and an ATI 4670 video card. The performance went up significantly, equaling desktops costing $2-300 more after the cost of upgrading. And there's room for future upgrades, something I'm always looking for. It's big, but it's quiet. A bit of bloatware, but no big deal. The wireless card make our loft a little bit neater.
Summary: I bought this on the intention of upgrading 3 pieces of hardware for gaming. I upgraded the PSU to a 750W; Installed a GTX 460 SE; and installed 8GB of RAM. The physical computer is great and the hardware seems to be great. A downside to the hardware is that the included 1TB hard drive is a generic, cheap Hitachi brand. If there is one place in a computer to fail, it is the hard drive.
