Summary: I purchased this unit from a local retailer, but am an old AMAZON customer; hence am adding this review. The motherboard supports only 8gb of ram - which is sufficient, but buyers should be aware. There is only one hard drive bay in the box yet the motherboard has 6 SATA slots. A second drive bay should have been an easy design spec, yet HP elected to skip this.
Summary: After using it for 4 months it developed a software issue. The computer failed to print. I download the printer software from HP and each time it told me that the printer is not connected. So I called the hp support and they diagnosed that the problem is the software. They will fix it for $65.00 and i said no. You guys can send me a software (windows 8). I will upgrade it myself. Thank you!
Summary: This thing is running, for now. It has been a month and it has frozen up twice. Multi tasking? Naah! It is loud, but the audio play back only works after I fight with Windows 8, which is awful! Video streaming? No. Old files are lost, which is not (name withheld's) fault. I simply can't open the files! I could go on but why bother. Stay away from this very underwhelming unit.
Summary: This computer itself seem fine- runs most software that I need smoothly and quickly (Office, etc.), and has plenty of storage. Unfortunately, it came loaded with Windows 8, which in my opinion is an unmitigated disaster for PC users. I spent years convincing my wife that she could use a computer, and all minor success I've had has been erased with one stroke from Microsoft.
Summary: Disk drive was broken out of the box, hp going to replace it but the week long process makes me wish I'd gotten a more reliable brand. Other than that the computer is a good bargain when it was 339.99, but not sure I'd be happy if I'd paid more.
Summary: First off I did not realize we were getting the keyboard and mouse along with the computer. All we wanted was the computer. Anyway since we did not want the keyboard we never opened the box. When we tried to hook up the computer and begin using it, IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE. There were no instructions there was no manual on how to do the hook up. We finally asked our son-in-law for help.
Summary: Just couldn't get the PC to connect to my existing Netgear wireless router, tried everything including the old faithful WG111v2 USB interface but the operating system wouldn't run the driver so gave up after a wasted Saturday. Returned for no quibble refund.
Summary: A competent machine quite fast, does what it says it will. unfortunately its badly let down by the bewildering Windows 8, which clearly is designed for phone & tablet use. I just could'nt cope with its weird arrangement, and have got a machine running Windows , which is an easy move from Windows X.P.
