Excerpt: Returning mine after three days of frustration, HP support will not support if you upgrade period. Microsoft was very helpful, but the unit has been a disaster from the beginning. Warning if you havve any Windows 8 files, seven can't read them. Finally found that among other things the BIOS had errors, but it took me three days of frustration to find that out.
Summary: This computer has been nothing but a headache. Windows 8 is hard to use. Computer does not block pop-ups even when pop-up blocker is turned on. Been in the repair shop several times. It is there now. Internet explorer quits working about every 45 seconds and has to be shut down.
Summary: After 32 days my $600 computer quit connecting to the internet. I sent it in for repair. It came back with the front scuffed up and with paperwork that made me think it was fixed. It wasn't. When I called I was told by HP's service department to leave my name and number and they would call back. They didn't-3 days in a row!. I sent it back again. This time it got fixed (motherboard) but the front was even more scuffed up.I sent it back again to get that fixed.
Summary: You cannot begin to fathom the level of hatred I have for Windows 8. Watching Bill Gates and his entourage of morons continue in business is like watching a 97 year old man try to skateboard. It's just @!&#*^% pathetic. Do yourself a favor and avoid Windows 8 if you actually try to do work on your desktop. The last thing I want to do... EVER... is waste my time learning a new POS system. All I want is a system that does what it needs to do and nothing more.
Summary: I am a pc user of more than 25 years; my first purchase was an IBM XT. I purchased a hp m8430 desktop system from Amazon several years ago for around $700. I had recently decommissioned a Compaq laptop that I had been delighted with. It lasted six years. I had used other HP products and was a loyal customer, based on their performance. The desktop was trouble from the start. I complained to customer service the day the warrantee ran out, and they would not honor it.
Summary: Computer lasted three months. Problems are only fixable if you send it to HP. If you're crazy enough to send your computer with all it's data to someone you don't know, please go ahead, but you can't convince me to do that. No more HP for me.
Summary: I hate Windows 8 for many reasons. They should give you the option of a different operating system. I can't get an HP printer (1 yr old) to work with this, even after going to HP website and downloading the printer driver. The directions that came with this are awful. Ready to throw the thing out the window.
Summary: If you must get this product, make sure that you get the one with Windows 7. This one was a pain from day 1! I gave up after two weeks and had my IT guy wipe Windows 8 (which locked the computer up completely) and put Windows 7 on it. Works fine now but I will never buy a computer with Windows 8 again! HP should be ashamed of themselves for making this oversized cell phone with apps.
