Hyundai vs. Lexus

Darrow F., Newegg
4 June 2009
  • Summary: I had been looking for a replacement for my self-built machine for months and ended up buying this. Computer-wise, the problem was I could have either bought a loaded Hyundai or a bare-bones Lexus. This machine is definitely the loaded Hyundai of computers.
  • Pros: 1) Large Hard Drive 2) Fast Processor 3) Lots of Ram 4) Loaded with extras 5) Vista Home Premium 6) Good looking case for HP 7) Sounds Great
  • Cons: 1) Hard drive makes saw-like noises 2) AMD (love the speed, hate the instability) 3) Ram is bottom-tier and fills up quickly 4) Extras = Bloatware 5) Vista Home Premium 6) Case is small and the HP proprietary Power Supply is woefully under equipped to run any reasonable Video Card. 7) No Cons on ...

Not Very Satisfied

Denise W., Newegg
2 June 2009
  • Summary: I would not recommend buying HP or Compaq computers. Each one my family has owned has had to be sent back in for service at least twice within the year of purchase. You can't tell me that this is coincidence because my family has never had a HP or Compaq computer properly run.
  • Pros: Great price, wonderful speed, ample ram and hard drive. Well functioning graphics card. Good quality dvd player. TV tuner with recorder. I highly suggest buying a cheap, but valid extended warranty with all HP and Compaq computers.
  • Cons: TV tuner only works with prebuilt software. Computer crashed instant I used my other tv tuner software. Had to reinstall operating system. Graphics card failed after five months of ownership. Ordered replacement from manufacturer. Had to uninstall a ton of unnecessary preinstalled promoted and tr...

User Review

John D., Newegg

  • Summary: saved the LCD monitor and speakers from my previous eMachine. You cant beat this price most gaming computers don't have this level of proformance and they cost $1,000 to $1500.
  • Pros: Tons of RAM and hard drive space, DVD drive, room to expand, helpful sat up, and and AMASING quad core
  • Cons: Takes a long time to start up windows for a quad core

Great machine!

Anonymous, Newegg
19 December 2008
  • Summary: I bought this PC a few days ago when my last PC died, and I couldn't be happier. This is my second HP PC, and I hope it lasts four years like my last one (Compaq Presario sr1750nx). I had it all put together in minutes and was reinstalling apps without a hitch.
  • Pros: Truckloads of RAM, Big fast HD (WD no less!), fast quad-core CPU, plenty of ports, two Media Drive bays (one big, one little), PCI Express slot for video upgrade, runs like a top, up and running in minutes without any hassles,
  • Cons: Bloatware to remove (but not nearly as much as other machines I've purchased), HP Advisor (which I turned off as unneeded but may be useful to less knowledgeable), nerfed BIOS (expected in a mass-market PC but still annoying), 7 GB RAM (instead of 6 or 8 GB - I don't get that at all), installing ...

Krystie S., Newegg
5 November 2008
  • Summary: Overall...this system is not for me, or anyone else who has ever built their own system, and that's exactly why it's at my friends house and not mine.
  • Pros: OK. I'm living with a good friend of mine who isn' t exactly what you'd call computer savvy. I had offered to build him a system from the egg, and he refused. To my frustration, he bought this particular machine at a local retailer. I've been using it out of necessity and I figure it deserves at ...
  • Cons: ...And speaking of loaded up; it comes installed with all the typical retail PC bloatware. That's were it gets annoying. Add to that the fact that this system is using onboard video and you can see where it falls short. If you plan on doing anything other than a few web-based games here and there...

An Affordable Powerhouse

Anonymous, Newegg
20 October 2008
  • Summary: Overall, a great bargain. One of the few exeptions to the rule that building your own machine is cheaper. Be aware of the power supply issues and do your research before buying!
  • Pros: This machine has the specs of a superstar and a price that won't empty out your wallet. It is extremely fast and built for gaming. Expect to enjoy your favorite titles with maxed out graphics (a couple of exeptions, obviously).
  • Cons: The stock 460W power supply is not adequate for this machine. PC Wizard 2008 shows the 5V running at 2.2V under load. I am looking into whether this PSU is proprietary for HP or if it can be upgraded. Also, the GPU tends to run hot under load (~80C)

A Great Product for a Excellent Price.

Joey C., Newegg
17 October 2008
  • Summary: Could have a bigger PSU, only carries a 350W - also it only has one additional free SATA power plug. The rest are molex. BUT, you can buy an adapter here on newegg that turns molex's into SATA plugs. There are FOUR SATA channels on the board, two are used by the already installed HDD and DVD drive.
  • Pros: There are many good things about this PC. It's quiet, sleek, and Fast - 8 GIGS OF RAM, and AMD QUAD CORE -. The SATA HDD installed is made by Seagate, it functions quickly and quietly. The memory installed is made by Samsung. The RAM could always be upgraded for something else if you fancy a cert...
  • Cons: There's a blinking blue LED on the front of the case that can be distracting at times. Not really a con. Can only install one more additional HDD to the interior, BUT, the case does have two personal drive slots meaning you can slide HP drives into them. They are pricey though. External drives so...

Very Nice

Brian T., Newegg
17 October 2008
  • Summary: I replaced my old Athlon XP 2800+ system with this and the performance differences is like a yugo vs porsche. You can play Crysis at medium settings.
  • Pros: Very responsive, 8GB of RAM, 64 bit Vista, and decent video card, very nice case with a small footprint, almost completely silent, HP pocket media drive bay is a very nice option. Runs all my 32 bit games and software with any problems. All my printers had drivers available for 64 bit Vista. All ...
  • Cons: Hyper Transport 1 (Phenom x4 9750 supports HT 3), Takes forever to boot (but once it is up and running it is fast), High memory timings, to much junk software install by HP.
