Great computer for the price!

Taylor C., Newegg
9 April 2010
  • Summary: Buy this computer, you wont regret it!
  • Pros: This computer is a great deal! The delivery from newegg was fast, even though I had some problems with my bank. Looks brand spankin new out of the box, no problems it booted right up and I downloaded WoW in less than 45 minutes, big step from my last computer at over 5 hours haha. I would purchas...
  • Cons: The graphics card was somewhat under powered it did"nt seem to match up with this powerful machine. I purchased a new one though that had 1g instead of 512mb and now Im running WoW on ultra high graphics. But if you arent a hardcore gamer there is no need to change the graphics card, so its not r...

Everything I wanted and more

Chad M., Newegg
27 March 2010
  • Pros: Fast. Very high scores for the Microsoft Windows Experience. Not gaming on this platform anymore, but with an $100 upgrade to a video card it would be rocking. Great chip, board and memory.
  • Cons: The hard drive was too slow, so I replaced it and went with Windows 7. Depending on how you look at it, the HP pocket drive seems a bit paternalistic as well as the HP Easy Backup.

User Review

Steve A., Newegg
14 January 2010
  • Summary: Newegg is always outstanding. I have yet to buy a product I wasn't happy with. Their shipping speed is great. I recommend Newegg to anyone wanting to buy a computer or accessories. I will never buy anywhere else the prices are unbeatable.
  • Pros: This computer is outstanding. Has all the ram and hard drive space you need for everyday performance. I'm not into gaming so I dont know how well it would perform . But for everything else its has plenty of power to get the job done. HP hasn't let me down yet I have 4 Hp's in my home the oldest b...

Best Value Under 800

patrick a., Newegg
24 November 2009
  • Summary: I would recommend this computer to anyone on a budget looking for the best value. It plays COD MW2, WOW, AOE, ect.. better than my TV gaming system. If you're looking for a Home Theater PC this is it.
  • Pros: The HP Pavilion Elite is incredible for the price of $640, I searched for over a week comparing computers and pricing out building a barebone system and this is as good as they get. You couldn't even build yourself a computer for less money, I don't understand but I am totally Pleased.
  • Cons: The case is kinda small, and you can't really upgrade too much. I loaded in a better videocard, and a TV tuner and am now maxed out. It isn't SLI but it does have the PCI-E 2.0 and you can't really complain for the price.

Awesome

Anonymous, Newegg
11 November 2009
  • Summary: Needs a better power supply and graphics card. Also, if you are going to do any extensive upgrading, you might as well buy parts and build a computer on your own. There isn't much room for growth in the case, the motherboard only supports 1066 ddr3 if more than 4gb installed, and the max on the cpu...
  • Pros: It has just about everything. The bluray looks great and this computer is fast. The radeon card siphons some of the ram, but it has 8gb to spare. HP is also upgrading it to 7 if you bought it within a certain time period.
  • Cons: 300 W powers supply, it was the first thing I changed when I got it.

unhappy FreeBSD camper

David R., Newegg
25 August 2009
  • Summary: If I'd seen this review before I bought I'd probably have waited a while before buying. Should work fine for Microsoft people.
  • Pros: Good system for Windows 7 (RC) or Ubuntu Linux 9.04. Have had no problems with these. Lots of RAM.
  • Cons: Wont run FreeBSD. Not HP's fault but Phenom II has issues with this OS, and FreeBSD is the OS I bought it for. Should have done more homework before buying :-( Be aware that there is not enough room in stock chassis nor headroom in the 300 watt PSU for decent graphics card (dual width 4850 in my ...

Additional Information

18 August 2009
  • Summary: The RAM is DDR3 but it is DUAL Channel. On the HP website it states that it will support 16GB (4GB per DIMM) witha 64x OS. Also it will support DDR3 Dual Channel 1333MHz!
  • Pros: N/A just additional information.
  • Cons: CPUz say this is an nVida 790 board but it is not. It is a 900 series board. So no AMD overdrive but you CAN us ATi overdrive for the video card.

Nice UPGRADEABLE machine!

ISAAC C., Newegg
16 August 2009
  • Summary: I upgraded to a single Visiontek HD4670 1GB GPU. That is what the two '**' are for in my 'Pro's review'. This card needs a 400 watt PSU as specified by Visiontek however I haven't had any problems yet. I will be upgrading to at least a 600+ watt PSU in the future when this one burns out LOL!
  • Pros: Bluray player for such a low priced system $819.99 at the Navy NEX. 8GB of DDR3 1066MHz memory. Runs HL2 EP1 & 2 like a champ at the HIGHEST settings! Adobe CS3 software runs superbly. I can create 1920 x 1080 drawings at 400 dpi and not run out of memory (default is screen which is actual size a...
  • Cons: HD4350, don't get me wrong it can do what I mentioned above as far as the game play. No room for expansion to Crossfire X. They purposefully made the backing to support only one video card. Nothing a dremel can't fix though. The mother board is mounted upside down to ensure non-multi-GPU upgrades...
