Summary: I regret buying this HP with Windows 8.1 and should have stayed with Windows 7. Even with the tutorials, a non-geek like me is having a hard time to familiarize myself with the new features. Worst yet, my favorite games are not compatible and I don't like the new versions for 8.1!
Summary: I bough tthis computer because it was so highly tated by Consumer Reports.Well, i think they were wrong. Physically the metal case seems cheaply make compared to my last computer. The disc door sometimes has difficulty closing. And this machine is not as 'fast' as Consumers Reports indicated.
Summary: One real disappointment ... there is NO or VERY LITTLE sound on my computer. I purchased 2 speakers to help but the quality is not what I had on my previous HP system. The booklet for hookup and questions was of little help. I'm glad I kept the guide from my old computer.
Summary: So far no equipment problems. The Quick Setup guide that comes with the PC only shows pictures of the various options for hook-up of the keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, modem connections (direct or wireless) and the location of the on/off switch for various models. If your lucky enough to get everything correctly configured and working properly you then have to go on-line to get information about all the features of the PC.
Summary: The hardware on the computer is probably very good. Windows 8.1 is a miserable train wreck. I can't even do simple tasks without it crashing. Has to be the worst version of Windows I have ever used. They have made it impossible to use any programs but Microsoft's. In retrospect I should have saved my money and bought a Mac.
