Summary: This SX2800 Intel Core2 Quad CPU has been just phenomenal. Had it for 4 months. It is compact, and ultra quiet! My old Dell's and HP's had the world's noisiest hard drives, whining loudly at times. The boot up on this Gateway is ultra quick. And the internet pops up in no time. I was skeptical of a Gateway, but I am super happy now.
Summary: After a indeterminate amount of time running, system interrupts begin consumer roughly 50% of the CPU resources. The system does not run properly and technical support is useless. Do not purchase this machine.
Summary: Initially my printer and my cordless kepboard had some minor gliches, but after I took advantage of the free upgrade to Windows 7 everything works great. Some frustration when I copied some old files to a CD and the gateway saw the cd as a blank, but I have a Vista laptop that read the cd fine. To check out the gateway I put a music cd in and it played okey. Gateway tech support said because it played the music that it wasn't their problem.
Summary: I Bought this system new from a site with an egg, as a Christmas gift. I booted it up to do some configuration so it would be truly turn on and go, and was greeted by a BSOD with a message about the video driver. Rebooted and updated all drivers, That went well. Afterword no more BSOD, but when streaming videos or playing games (I know onboard video not a gamer, It was an old game that this system should easily handle) the system becomes very laggy and the audio becomes...
Summary: This is a great machine for the price - with a monitor it was half as much as an iMac which is what I really wanted. That being said, it does everything that I need it to and I should be receiving the Windows 7 upgrade in the next few days. I have split the HDMI out to my monitor and my TV so that I can watch Netflix in style.
Pros: Adequate Storage, Easy To Setup, Easy To Use, Fast, Quality Accessories, Reliable Performance, Sleek Design
Summary: The primary use of this desktop was for our living room. It's size, price, and quite fans are perfect for an HTPC. I don't need a gamer media card (but you can upgrade if you'd like...others have done so), so the default graphics works fine with what we need. We use this HTPC to watch television (PC TV) through Windows Media Center, Internet TV, browse the web, look at pictures, and watch family videos. It's perfect for our needs.
