Great at first but DIED shortly after - NOT RELIABLE
15 May 2011
Summary: At first, this computer was super fast and not bad for its price. It was working awesomely for about the first 10 months. HOWEVER, after that it started to crash. I've had this computer for only a year and a half and it is dieing on me! And of course, the warranty is only for 1 year, so right when my computer starts to crash, the warranty is over. This computer is not long lasting at all. Plus, the CD/DVD compartment is so poorly made.
Summary: Bought in August, 2009. Worked great and I was very impressed with it. Did the free upgrade to Windows 7 in November, 2009 and it was even faster. This morning, I turned it on and there is no video output. Now, I have to ship it to Texas (my cost to ship) in order to have Acer repair it. I found a few other owners with similar problems online. I'd recommend staying away.
Summary: I have seen this small box at a local Costco, came home and ordered via Amazon. I like its small size, low noise, built-in HDMI connector, and it looked like a good audio-video computer station (HTPC) to play Internet and local (including network) files. However, the small size (together with internal "weakness") has also appeared the main problem, which makes this computer hardly usable for anything.
Summary: This product was sent to me through TigerDirect. After receiving the machine, I went to boot it up and got no boot media found. This indicate 1 of 2 things. The hard drive crashed during shipping or the OS wasn't installed. I contacted TigerDirect who would only refund me if the product was proven to be defective. I then contacted Gateway who told me this was a software issue and would send me a recovery disk, but the disk was not available for order.
