Summary: I bought this in January of 2009, after my old custom built PC died on me. I wanted to build a new one, but I needed a PC that day. Getting used to Vista was a PITA, and it's incompatibility with my sound card sucked, but is not to be blamed on Gateway. I think it has a lot of features for the money, especially at the time. The TV tuner was an extra bonus! I used it as a daily driver for about the first year doing simple stuff, and minimal audio recording.
Summary: I purchased this model at best buy about three years ago. I began having issues with it a few months afterward and it would automatically shut down or simply freeze. I then found out that the unit did not come with any case fans and consequently kept overheating. I went to frys and purchased two case fans, a 20mm for the back and a 8mm for the front ... after installing these two I haven't had any issues with overheating.

Summary: If all you want is Quad processors for a low price, buy this. If you think you are getting an all around super fast desktop (or gaming system) keep looking. There are over 220 different Quad Core variations now, ranging from "CPU Mark" of 10,181 ($8,000) to 1,704 ($500). This model is rated at 3,257 by PassMark software. Windows Experience Index (Windows performance rating) is 5.4. This is fairly good, and the graphics card can also record TV/video.

Summary: OK, I have read all the horror stories with this machine, but the refurbished price was too good to pass up. You get a lot of machine for your money. It seems all the performance problems (random and increasingly frequent shutdowns) are related to poor heat management in the case. So, before I even turned the thing on I installed the following: 1. 1, 80mm intake fan mounted to the front of the case (sucking from the outside into the case) 2.
Summary: I discovered this computer by chance at Costco for $500.00 - too good to be true, but it's real for a fully loaded computer with some features that I don't really need (TV tuner) The computer comes with elegant classic full size black case with plenty of connections. Inside, it has two small fans, one for the CPU and the fan for graphics card, without large internal fans to blow the hot air out, it is very quiet.
Summary: I can sum up my review best by saying I've purchased three more since my first one - even when the local computer store stopped carrying them, I bought the last two on Amazon. If I needed another PC today I'd buy another one - without even looking around to see if there is something better in today's market. It doesn't support "hardware virtualization" for VMWare/Hyper-V type applications, and isn't super expandable, but it is more than enough for most uses.
Summary: I paid $469.00 for this computer in early October including shipping/tax. Dollar for dollar, there wasn't anything out there that came even close in terms of specs and performance. I am very happy with my purchase. Enough so to post my comments here. I read tons of reviews on this product before buying. LOTS of people have complained both here and other sites.
Summary: using my new Gateway for my new hobby, photography which it is great for. And it is being used for our home office and of coarse gaming. I spend several hours a day on the Gateway and couldn't be happier.
Pros: Easy To Set Up, Never Freezes, Powerful, Quiet, Versatile
