Summary: I've owned this computer since March 09 and have now run into the infamous random shutoff problem. After downloading the BIOS update the computer is now much louder but no longer shuts off, I assume the heatsink fan is set to full power or something now but that isn't really doing much to mask that the case has no other fans to cool any of the components.
Summary: I bought this computer with the intention of using an HDMI cable to hook it up to my Sony LCD TV. Just getting the sound and picture to work was a hassle. Then since getting that figured out and finding out that Vista 64 bit does not support of a lot of my peripherals and having to download new drivers. The real agitation came when the computer software kept having problems. Every time I would put it into sleep mode and try to bring the computer back on it would freeze.
Summary: I purchased this Gateway LX6810-01 computer in FEB 2009. It ran well for about 4 months, but has now begun to have random freezes or shutdowns. When the computer runs normally, I love it. But I now expect to end all my sessions with a frozen computer. It appears to me to be related to the video card. I have learned by reading other reviews that random freezes or shutdowns are not at all an uncommon problem for the Gateway LX6810-01 computer.
Summary: I bought this 2 weeks ago thinking I could put all the family 8mm video tapes onto DVD...My video camera is not a newer digital so tried to use the 3 analog RCA inputs on the front. It will not capture analog using them, in fact there is not program on the computer to allow you to do that. The TV capture card only captures in AVI at 320 X 240 and cannot be changed so watching TV on my monitor is like watching a bad video tape.
