Summary: For the last 5 years this computer has served me well. I got this computer the day it came out and as of Thursday of next week I will replace it for one from ibuypower. This bad boy served me so well instead of trashing it I am going to wipe it and give it to my friend so he can enjoy the feel of RAW EGGS in his lap.
Pros: Low maintenance, Ease of access to USB ports, It gotz all the kilobits
Cons: Can't run internet, game, and skype with out it locking up., Couldn't quite nail down how much mayo to put on my sandwich
Summary: With the video card and memory upgrades, (Total cost of about $250), this computer is almost 4 years old and still better than most computers on the store shelves today. (Purchased in 2008, this was written on 1-24-12) I absolutely love the machine, Gateway has great customer support. Windows Vista experience rating maxxed out with a 5.9 in every category. Windows 7 experience rating checks in at a solid 7.4.
Pros: Great processor, i7-920 quad core with 4 virtual cores (behaves as an 8 core), Good graphics card ATI Radeon HD4850 w 512GB discrete memory, Good memory 3GB DDR3, Good 750GB HDD, multiformat DVD +/- RW Drive with Labelflash, 15 in 1 card reader
Cons: After about 1 1/2 years, video card failed. No problem, it was time to upgrade anyways. I installed an XFX Radeon HD 5770 with 1GB DDR5 discrete memory.I also added 4GB of Kingston DDR3 memory. Total memory now is 7GB.
Summary: I have been reading through the reviews and there may be some real isues and then again maybe not. I bought a Refurb. When it arrived, the first thing i noticed was that the Hdd dock was nothing but an empty hole. I hooked it up anyway, and there was a problem with the power button. Once on, it booted as far as the Gateway Splash Screen. I called the Support number that was on the invoice which was Revonate Mfg. They do the refurb work.
Summary: I purchased this PC as a refurbished PC. I had been planning on building a PC as I have done with my last 4 PCs. I live in Panama and could not touch a PC of this quality for less than $2,000. So far it has exceeded all of my expectations. I added another 6GB of ram for about $100 and a 1TB drive for another $75. I love it.
Summary: I got this PC about a week ago from best buys came with a 19" monitor, All in one printer. all for $1160 very satisfied with this. I'm a pretty hardcore gamer so i had to upgrade. I added another 3GB DDR3 Corsair. replaced the power supply with a 750 Watt PSU Corsair. and added a second ATI HD 4850 for the crossfire. I have had no problems what so ever with. just need to wait for the blu ray drives to drop down in price so i can slap one on it.
Summary: I have a refurbished version of this machine. For the price(new or refurb) you can't beat the performance of this machine. Mine came with a 500w PS and the 1gb ati 4850 video card. Out of the box The only problem was a blinking cursor in windows explorer. That fixed and a bios update to turn on the i7 overclocking and its good to go.
Summary: Have had about a year and runs like a clock! Quiet. fast and will not bog down with almost anything! Use with FSX flight Simulator and does very nice with it! There are more poweful I-core 7's but this is a great value! I do not know why it is apparently out of production? I have had zero problems with it, and I like Vista BTW!
Summary: In reading many many reviews online and after reading the specs, I decided to try the Gateway FX! And I am glad that I did!! It is super fast and the components are great for the price paid!! The exact same specs come on the dell but it only has a 360 watt power supply so the 500 in this one gives me leg room. Played Fallout 3 at "UltraHigh" setting with no problem or lag or even heat. I have 3 Corsair 2gig sticks on the way and then it will be even faster! Buy it.
