Summary: I bought mine new at a retail store for $748.00 last year and it's had nothing but slow performance issues. The PC constantly freezes up when running two or more applications. (Opening a word document while browsing the web). I'm staying away from Intel - No wonder they are creating a newer chip, because this one trully sucks!
Summary: My first PC was a Gateway (and that was so long ago, I was on Compuserve and Prodigy), and every single PC since then has been a Gateway. But, I will never buy another Gateway again. When my three year old Gateway, started acting up this summer, I replaced it with this model, the 4850-45U. I immediately noticed how cheap the mouse and keyboard were. They were so flimsy and cheap feeling, that I kept using my three year old mouse and keyboard.
Summary: Today my second Gateway broke down. First one went back 3 times and now more trouble. Second one ker-plunk after one year. Previously, I could talk to tech support but now you must have IMPOSSIBLY SMALL ID NUMBER before you can reach them on the phone or online. Computer #1 is an SX2851-33 and #2 is an FX 4710, but I'm going to post a one star on as many Gateway products as I have time for. I don't know where to go from here...
Summary: I was so happy when I bought the DX4840 Gateway last year. But little problems started almost the first week. Overall it was so great and I needed it that I kept it. Now it crashes and has to be rebooted every few days. I'm just holding on and backing up my files for the day it dies. Then I'm buying for the first time in my life an Apple computer. I just want a computer that works not a part time job keeping it running.
