Summary: Have had the DX4840-07 for ~ 5 months now. Runs smooth as silk. Great for intensive accounting & photo software. Had my last Gateway for 8 years before upgrading. Love Gateway. Never had any problems. Great service from Amazon.
Summary: Gateway DX4840-37 Desktop (Black) I read a couple of reviews that this machine had arrived dead on arrival, problems with support, etc. Then I read a satisfied customer who had done the same, but purchased anyway, and loved it. Having purchased Gateways almost exclusively for 20 plus years, I went with the latter review, and my gut instincts. I am more than happy. Absolutely no problems with the computer or the software, from the start. It is fast and flawless.
Summary: I have a 52" HD TV that I connect to with one HDMI cable & signed up with Netflix. It does a great job with movies. I enlarge the page for e-mail, so it can be read at a distance. I use a wireless mouse & keyboard. I both stream & order by mail the newer movies. ( my problem, too much to watch.
Summary: I saw the two previous negative reviews and was concerned but realized that out of the many who had bought it, only two complained. Having a previous positive experience with Gateway, I took the risk. It runs just as expected and advertised and is a great computer. Only problem is that the monitor is just a tad too wide for my desk.
Summary: I needed to replace a 3 year old office desktop with a noisy fan (which I will repair when the transfer is complete.) The Gateway SX2850-33 got a great review from CNET but it seemed cramped, so I looked further, and this model met my needs. (The -11e model was about $100 cheaper but had an i3 processor). Lots of memory (6GB) and disk space (1TB), and an i5 processor with Windows 7 64 bit.
Summary: I actually bought this because of my recent problems with Dell system quality, order fulfillment and customer service. I found good reviews about this system on cnet, so I gave it a try. It sets up easily, is super fast and super quiet. My husband loves it. You have to set up your own recovery disks. It takes four dvd's for system default backup image and drivers and one cdr for recovery boot disk.
