Dell XPS One 24

maximum pc
8 July 2009
  • Excerpt: All-in-one PCs like Dell’s XPS One 24 aren’t the most powerful computers on the market and they know it. Like thin-and-light notebooks, they trade brute power for a thin, stylish profile and quiet operation—and we’re absolutely fine with that. We’d never give up our benchmark-crushing uber rigs for an all-in-one, but a good one can be a terrific second PC for the kitchen, living room, or bedroom. Don’t take that to mean the XPS One 24 is wimpy, though.
  • Pros: Beautiful display; wireless keyboard features a built-in track pad; fast (for an all-in-one).
  • Cons: No Blu-ray drive; keyeboard lacks a numeric keypad; speakers sound harsh; annoying fan noise.

  • Summary: The (PRODUCT) RED version of Dell's XPS One 24 is the most fully featured of Dell's all-in-ones and would serve as a fine PC to anyone in search of a Windows-based all-in-one for basic digital entertainment and productivity tasks. A few more innovations or forward-thinking options would earn a warmer recommendation.
  • Pros: Sharp, bright 24-inch LCD; Blu-ray burner; handy capacitive-touch screen and media controls; strong multimedia performance.
  • Cons: Fixed stand prevents wall-mounting; lack of 64-bit Vista hurts performance; few inspired extras.

Dell XPS One 24 review

30 March 2009
  • Summary: When Dell launched its big-hearted XPS One RED last year, we liked it a lot. It had a few flaws that left us preferring simpler, cheaper all-in-ones like the Apple iMac or Asus EeeTop, but it was a promising start. Now the One is back in the form of the XPS One 24. It's bigger, it's better and most importantly it's cheaper than before. The question is, do we recommend it now?? ? Super screen The most obvious refinement is, of course, the screen.
