Summary: This the best machine that Dell built..... Super fast for everthing, from simple browsing to stream video, to VPN IPTV from all the world, I own one XPS420 QUAD since 2007 ... Simple the best ....
Summary: This is not a review but simply a 'ditto" to the others. This has been my best computer purchase since I started buying them. I bought my 420 years ago (7?) - and it still runs well. I suppose I should replace it with a new model but my fear is that Dell simply doesn't make them with the same degree of competence anymore. Please advise.

Summary: This is one of the best desktop pc system make by dell. I have 3 of this pc myself and recommendation to my friends who also own 2 same machines. This machines last you for lifetime and it worth the money to upgrade all the part for Dell XPS 420. Every penny you spend on it and worth it. I watch movies and play game on this pc.
Summary: I've owned this computer since 2008. It is true even with other computers they get bogged down by software installs, updates that can get corrupted, and other malware and virus infections. Re-install of OS every couple of years brings ANY computer to the day you bought it new. Happy with my XPS 420 with my processor of Q9450 and 4Gs of Ram. My disk is a RAID 1 and works really well. I am a system admin and spec'd this machine out myself and have had NO, ZERO, Problems.
Summary: I have had my system for 3 years and have had NO hardward issues with it. I have added a bigger/ better video card and switched to a SSD in it. I used to have a backup system just liek this one just in case this on died but I sold it 3 months ago since this one just keeps running. I use it 13 hours a day and it just hums along, handling anything I throw at it. I runs very quiet as well.
Summary: I have owned this computer for 6 years. I must admit it has had issues. Dell replaced the motherboard twice because the onboard soundcard would not work. The hard drive was replaced twice. I have updated the computer with a Creative Soundcard and an XFX Radeon 6760 Video card. I have also upgraded ram to 8GB, and the operating system is Windows 7 not the original XP which I think sucks and was the primary cause for all the initial problems.
Summary: I got a customized one from Dell's site but its basically an XPS 420. It was a great machine, even Vista ran great on it..but about 18 months in the motherboard died. I ordered a replacement from Dell and the shipment has been delayed. I don't know if this will solve my problem but doing a google search it seems a lot of XPS 420 users have had this issue. I'm about to ready to just buy a new machine but now I'm wary of the XPS line and Dell in general.
Summary: would have given 5 stars but mine came with a 128mb graphics card and not the 256 like stated in add. it did come with a keyboard and mouse and vista 64bit disk which i didn't know i was getting but glad i did . As soon as i got it i wiped the drive and did a fresh install of windows 7 home prem. 64 bit "I had NO problems what so ever" my base score is 4.1 which would be more if i had the graphics card that i thought came with the unit. my top score after installing win.
