Pleasantly Surprised

Anonymous, Newegg
  • Summary: I considered returning the machine, but it was in such good condition and working so well, that I decided to keep it...
  • Pros: The machine looks like new, and started right up to the configuration settings... Speed wise, it is pretty decent for a older machine...
  • Cons: It was not a E8400 (3.00GHz) processor as stated, but a E7600 (3.06GHz) processor... This is not knowable until the machine is up and running, to enable checking System Info, or running cpu-z The clock speed is slightly higher, but the BUS Speed is only about 3\4's that of the E8400... Under some...

  • Pros: Liked the price seems to run OK I am slowly getting all my programs ect moved to it, but that will take a lot of time.....
  • Cons: Only con is that it came with 4 gb of memory not 8 like it should have..... If Newegg gave me a good deal on 2 four gb memory sticks that would work on this unit I would do it.... Just to make things easier................

Very Capable Little Computer

John G., Newegg
15 November 2015
  • Summary: It also included a decent USB keyboard and mouse. I'm happy that this computer is more than capable for anything I'll need to use it for now and in the future.
  • Pros: Very clean refurb'ed SFF Optiplex. (please see the spec's) Fast and more than efficient for processing and multi tasking. My Optiplex came with an additional installed low profile DVI video card. (nice surprise) But, the onboard VGA works just as well. Lot's of USB ports. The small size allows me...
  • Cons: I would have preferred a copy of Windows 7 64 bit as part of the deal (to take advantage of the full 4GB of memory) but I can live with the Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit that's installed.

great deal for $180

Stephen G., Newegg
18 October 2015
  • Pros: 8 gigs of DDR3 RAM, 3Ghz Core2 duo, 1TB Hitachi HDD, DVD writer. Got it on sale for $180 Considering Win7 Pro is $140 I got all that for $40 and everything worked fine.
  • Cons: I recommend loading BIOS defaults first. I wanted to look through everything before booting it from the HDD with a Linux Live USB or CD. It wouldn't boot either until I loaded the BIOS defaults then set SATA to AHCI.

a steal for a normal home user.

Stephen G., Newegg
27 September 2015
  • Summary: Highly recommend loading defaults in the BIOS. Initially mine wouldn't boot from the DVD or a USB stick and loading BIOS defaults did the trick. You might have to reselect the entry to set AHCI on the SATA HDD. The defaults vary greatly from how it came.
  • Pros: A good deal if you consider that Win7Pro64SP1 OEM alone would cost $139 from Newegg. Since it cost only $179 that means you're getting a computer with 8GB DDR3 RAM, a 3ghz dual core Intel CPU, 1TB Hitachi HDD, 8 x USB ports, HDMI port, DVI port, optical USB mouse, & USB keyboard all for $40. Fort...
  • Cons: The preloaded Windows 7 image left a little to be desired although it was free of bloatware. Windows Update wouldn't work at all and it had some odd services settings. I had to go through a list of what is considered normal default services and adjust things to get Windows working normally. It ca...
