Excerpt: The thing I like about Dell is that you can customise your computer to your own requirements, for example adding a DVD Re writer media card, etc, etc. I've had little trouble with mine (touch wood!). The only problem I had was upgrading to Windows Vista. I was left with minimal instructions and actually found the system slower, until I got down to using it on a daily basis. At one point I considered reverting to XP, but thought I would stick with Vista.
Excerpt: I was strapped for cash but needed a newer system so after some searching and weighing other systems I chose the E520, I opted for the 2.8 ghz Pentium D since the new core duo's only cost more than anything. Once I got it i threw in a new video card. Here was the only problem i ran into with the whole system. There was only a 305 watt power supply, yeah 305, not 350.
Pros: Well ventilated, easy to work on, has pci - express
Cons: To much crap installed on initial boot, inadequate power supply .
Excerpt: This was the first PC I have bought from Dell, as I usually build my own, but at the price I couldnt resist it. I purchased one of these back in April from Ebay for under £200. I am very impressed with it. Mine came preinstalled with Windows Vista Home Premium. Mine has a Intel Core2 Duo 4300 CPU, 150GB SATA hard Disk, Card Reader, 1GB of DDR2 ram and a Sony DVDRW SATA drive. For the money this PC has it all and more.
Pros: Good Quality, Fast, Reliable, Upgradeable
Cons: Only comes with a 1 year return to base warranty as standard
Excerpt: I was really excited about getting a Dell as they always looked fantastic on the television adverts. When it came and we set it all up it looked great, however it was really noisy. We just thought it was maybe cos it was so big and hada dual core processor so needed to stay cool, - silly us! When my sister in law also got 1 we noticed hers was really quiet. So we contacted Dell which I must tell you is a task in itself. Customer service is NOT 1 of their qualitys.
Pros: Looks great . Dual core processor
Cons: Freezes . Dell technical support a nightmare ! !
Excerpt: The Dimension E520 is used by me as a business computer and was bought as such from the Dell Website. This review therefore focuses on the machine from a small business point of view. CHOOSING AND ORDERING:- The Dell website is pretty good it breaks things down for the lay person as much as possible however I still took advise from a more clued up friend on any techncal computer issues.
Pros: Hassle free, runs well, looks good
Cons: Need to know a little bit to get right package
Excerpt: I bought my Dell Dimension E520 from ebay, I had no opertunity to upgrade any of the components but i understand that they are quite easy to do yourself. I decided to buy this particular model as i did not need a monitor and it came with no monitor. I have had no problems with it so far except a bit of trouble transferring files from my old PC which runs on XP, this one runs with vista.
Excerpt: Has pretty much all you need, except i have seen better looking products. This is the only let down. There are many features which make the whole product even more impressive! I would highly recomend it to anyone that is interested in buying this type of product. When i bought it i thought it was the right one for me and i was right, VERY GOOD PURCHASE for me!
Excerpt: The dell dimension E520 is so easy to set up, with straight forward instructions, there is hardly any software to load up as it is already loaded on there ready for you to use, as soon as you switch on. The only draw back is that when I bought it I presumed that it would have a floppy disk drive, this is probably an error on my part, but I think in the product description it could be made clearer that this is an extra.
Excerpt: I have just brought my Dell Dimension E520, directly of Dell's website. The reason I decided to go for Dell was that I could pick and choose what spec I wanted and i knew from previous experiences with the company they offered great reliability and value. I was looking for the cheapest PC I could find. So after searching Dell's site I found this dimension for just under £400.
Excerpt: 10/24/06 - Despite Dell's decision to also offer AMD based PCs they continue to sell primarily Intel processors. The Dimension E520 budget system is based around the older Pentium D 805 processor. This is a fairly low model that while it has a dual core consistently performs below the AMD Athlon 64 X2 and the new Intel Core Duo and Core 2 Duo models.
