I'm Happy

Philip N., Newegg
22 October 2006
  • Summary: Getting a good video card that doesn't overheat is a bit of a challenge, but there are good reviews on NewEgg that really help with getting the right card for your system. I've owned this unti for 6 months now and I'm very happy with my choice.
  • Pros: Quite IF you sue the fan provided for your CPU. Small and compact. Easy to work with even thought it's a 'small' case. Looks nice and can stand or lay flat on the desktop.
  • Cons: It does get 'louder' as load is put on the CPU, but still it's not LOUD. The loudest it ever gets is during boot and then it quiets down a good bit. It isn't as small as you might think. It's the size of those school desktop computers. Video leaves a lot to be desired, but it does take PCI Expres...

Good choice for microATX barebones

Dale F., Newegg
17 September 2006
  • Summary: Good non-gaming system.
  • Pros: Easy to use right out of the box. Had it up and running in about 45 minutes. I like the easy removal of the drives. Small footprint fits anywhere on a desk. This is my 2nd ASUS Pundit.
  • Cons: I like the layout of the Pundit-R better - it allows use of full size cards. It is hard to get RAM into all 4 slots. The DVD drive is a very tight tolerance.

Poor case design

Robert L., Newegg
6 September 2006
  • Summary: This was an overall disappoint for me. I use to think highly of Asus, but not. Great motherboard design but aweful case design. this needs to be just a 1/4" higher to be able to use all the ram. A place for an extra fan. A bigger power supply or better yet an external power supply.
  • Pros: Small, Compact, Very pretty. I like the multi media reader. Would make an okay media pc. Great motherboard. 4 slots for ram!
  • Cons: Too compact. Gets hot. Only a 275 watt power supply. Dont know why this has a 16x pci slot. I dont know of any video card that requires less than a 300watt psu. Low profile cards only! Though not a problem just arent too many good low profile sound cards. Dont expect to be using all the ram slots...

Great little box

Anonymous, Newegg
28 March 2006
  • Summary: I just wanted to metion the Zalman Fatla1ty cpu fan will fit without a hitch and really does a good job cooling the case, currently my cpu runs at 24c and the case temp is 30c.
  • Pros: Great case layout, nice features on the motherboard. Asus dependable quality.
  • Cons: If you are going to put in stand alone video and sound cards, make sure you get the low profile ones and unles the low profile brackets come with your cards you will have to search the internet for them. Also would have been nice to have a little more clearance above the ram, the dvd/cd player si...

Slim PCI cards required

Anonymous, Newegg
1 January 2006
  • Summary: Buyer beware: Only LOW PROFILE PCI cards will fit in this! Examine the picture of the back of the computer, the PCI slots are half the size that they normally are! This problem makes it incredibly hard to upgrade.
  • Pros: Relatively small compared to other cases
  • Cons: Low profile PCI cards required

One small issue

Anonymous, Newegg
3 October 2005
  • Summary: These are nice boxes but the description should make it clear that the PCI and PCI Express slots will only accept low profile cards. The backing plate on standard cards is too high to fit into the rear slots in this box. This same issue exists in the Pundit-PE3.
