Summary: I just checked with asus support they were very fast with reply by email. But want me to send barebone back to reseller, and they will forward to asus, I guess. Havnt gotton as far yet, so I'll report later. Id rather they just send me a new power supply, and avoid all the hassles and shippings.
Pros: small size, white makes nice girlie comp.
Cons: cd door spring is almost useless, door either wont open or if you loosen spring, hangs open 1/2 inch
Summary: RMA-ed first one besaouse of this problem, spent half a day trying to fix the problem or at least localize it. Got a replacement in 2 days (thanks, NewEgg, your customer service is great), but the problem with DVI still exists.
Pros: Ultra-slim. Quiet. Cheap. Work fine with small monitor (19" and less, non-widescreen). Looks nice. Can run Vista on it. Core 2 Duo / Core 2 Quad support. Horizontal/vertical design. Firewire.
Cons: Known problems with DVI video output, just google for ASUS P2-P5945G DVI problem and you'll find tread on ASUS forum. Cannot display video using standard Digital Video Interface (DVI) over 1280x1024 soo if you're planning to use this with widescreen LCD panel or your plasma/LCD TV you're out of l...
Summary: I am very satisfied with this unit and would buy it again. Great utility unit for the internet and would be a good unit for an office PC. Small form factor takes little space and does everything that would be needed. Unit is quiet and would be easy to service and relocate.
Pros: This unit is one of the smallest and most compact units that accept full bracketed (not hard to find low bracketed) PCI cards, although not large ones. Very well made and compact. Included CPU fan is high quality with COPPER heat sink.
Cons: BIOS was outdated for Allendale E2180. BIOS needed to be falshed to Ver 604. Included software does not work with Vista. SanDisk 2 GB SD card crashes system. System freezes with this card and will not boot with card in reader. Other brands of cards work. Will not HOT SWAP Maxtor Mini 4 external h...
Summary: Asus almost nailed it this time. This barebones machine is almost perfect, save for the single SATA port on the motherboard. I am crestfallen because without a SATA DVD Drive, the computer's airflow is restricted and the fans will kick on alot more. Asus is so close on the various Pundit machines.
Pros: + Attractive Design + Small Form Factor + High Reliability + Extremely Quiet + VGA/HDMI Outputs for Dual Monitors + More (4) USB ports on back than other Pundits
Cons: - ONE SATA PORT?!?! - Air Flow Restricted When Using IDE Cables - PCI only Expansion
Summary: The case is very easy to disassemble, and the Drive Cage is also easy to remove, with just 3 screws. The case makes very good use of the space it has, with ventilation right on top of the CPU heatsink and the memory positioned right next to it to also get some cooling.
Pros: The case is exactly what I wanted. This is the case, and the only one, I've seen that rivals SFF PC's from manufactuerers like Dell, etc. Not only is this case extremely small, but it still manages to use standard size Power Supplies, PCI cards, and CPU heatsinks. Very pleased.
Cons: No CPU overclocking features, although you can adjust RAM timings.
