Summary: This little box packs a punch. I had no trouble setting this thing up as it was very straight forward. I installed xbmc on it and it works like a charm. I am streaming videos to this machine from another machine on my home network and I gotta say, it works pretty well.
Summary: I'll save this section for any updates I have on performance: ------------------------------------------------------------------- Running: - Asus EeeBox PC EB1012P - Windows 7 Ultimate x64 - 120 GB SSD - G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 800 (N82E16820231156) Downloaded latest service pack, latest drivers,...
Pros: Next-gen Nvidia Ion, Low Price, USB 3.0 and eSATA, great form factor
Cons: I can't for the life of me get 1080p to play from this box properly. About 80% of MKV and AVI 1080p files play ok (but only through Media Player Classic - couldn't get VLC to play anything HD at all 720p or 1080p) (choppy). Streaming 1080p from YouTube was impossible. Still trying to work out the...
Summary: I purchased this originally as a front end media center. As that I have no complaints. Does everything I need it to do and more. I picked Asus over some of the other lesser known brand names because I was under the impression ASUS had some what good technical support.
Pros: Small form factor. Really quiet. Plays 1080p video.
Cons: ASUS Customer Support. No where was it documented if the esata port supported port multiplier. I'm interested in this feature to turn the eb1012p into a file server using a external esata enclosure. I had contacted ASUS support 3 times for an answer. 1. The analyst told me my product was not supp...
Summary: This is a great little computer to be attaching a big external hard disk on and have it running as media/backup server. Installed Tversity on mine to have all my pictures, music, movies streamed over the network to my PS3.
Summary: There are four problems with it: 1. The Atom CPU is under-powered. It makes web browsing a little tedious. 2. HDMI audio output is not reliably detected by my Sony surround sound system. 3. It will not wake up from sleep when I press the power button on my Media Center remote. 4.
Summary: I am using this as a TV PC: Netflix, Hulu, Youtube, with the occasional web surfing. The video plays seamlessly, but don't dare scroll while video is playing. The Eee Box attaches perfectly to the back of my TV into the wall-mount holes, so you won't see it, or need shelf space.
Summary: This is a great little system that I'm using as a Media Center. It has no issues playing videos on our TV over the HDMI connection, even .mkv files. (DivxHD codec is required) The system was easy and straight forward to setup and its tiny form factor is great for just about any room.
