Summary: I bought the computer while I was in Afghanistan, had it sent home to my wife and kids so they would have a real good computer to Skype with me.........computer did not work, bought an ASUS (new) instead of worrying about this apple computer. Now I am home, 2 years later, tried this Apple computer again, it's all jacked up. Video card and other stuff is bad. Don't buy this product!
Oversized hulk of a computer running a very flat mac os x operating system.
19 July 2012
Summary: I would say this computer is a monstrous waste of money...why bother with a hulking computer that can only run mac os X and it's related software. The mac is not what i would call robust in its offerings...anyhoo...just saying don't waste your money...
Summary: I bought this because I wanted a MAC. It turns on & I can receive email. But it needs a FlashPlayer to view most web sites. Adobe no longer supports this computer & they do not have a FlashPlayer that will work on this computer, so I am out of luck. Would I recommend this computer? No not unless it already has a FlashPlayer. Without a FlashPlayer all this computer is good for is emails.
Summary: To begin, the customer service provided by Vertexpc is terrible. That said, the ad for the Mac G5 was lacking information on the unit. In an ad for a computer, I need to know the following items: Size and weight, video card specifics, if it is video adapter capable, memory and storage specifics, information on bluetooth and wifi capability, what type of connections are available and how many, and what is included with the unit, i.e. power cord.
Summary: I purchased this tower for the intentions of recording but was let down. The people I purchased it from shouldn't be aloud to be on Amazon any longer. The box it was shipped in looked like it was 30 years old and was in bad shape. The computer smelled of cigarette smoke and cat urine and was pretty beat up. One of the fans wouldn't work and it wouldn't even recognize my Apple Thunderbolt. I had to purchase the apple DVI conversion box and that wouldn't work.
Summary: I have been a Mac afficianado for 20 years and owned or useed at least 20 models professionally. I know I will get a low "helpful" rating on this review, but I suspect professionals and some people who really understand where Mac has failed will agree. In my current firm, which is quite leading edge, we are now at about 75% pc based machines. The more experienced the designer, the more likely they are to have thrown in the towel on MAC.
Summary: This was my first mac. Panther is great, and I enjoy working on it. BUT, this machine crashes at least once a day. The screen freezes, and I can move the mouse, but that's it. You have to reboot. If not for this problem, the G5 is a 5 star product, but this problem makes the machine nearly useless. Definetly not worth the price. [...
Summary: Firstly, I might get low "helpfullness" scores on this as Mac owners are a brand loyal bunch, and God bless us for it. I have owned Macs and PCs, and used both extensively in different work environments for design work, namely Photoshop, Quark and Illustrator. There is just no question in the world that, today, PC platforms offer the same or better speed on these applications for seriously less money.
