Summary: disclaimer(this review and experience is based on a 27 inch imac from early 2010) the imac was a great computer. i thoroughly enjoyed it while it worked. i've had my imac for 3 years until recently the motherboard gave out. the cost to repair for my 27 inch imac came out to roughly $900. i'm kind of upset because the amount for repair is so high that it makes more sense to buy a new imac than repair one that is 3yrs old.
Summary: The good stuff - StarCraft II looks amazing and plays on ultra 2560x1400 at over 30fps - yes! The speakers stink but I added an old white set of Creative I-Trigue 3400s and they rock. iTunes and Spotify are perfect. We haven't gotten all the mac software yet, so can't wait to dive in and try photo and video editing. JUST TOO EXPENSIVE!
Summary: This is how the things are changing. There is no optical drive included in this iMac anymore. If you need a CD/DVD reader or burner you have to go for another external solution like these ones http://amzn.to/ZuI9C5 In all other points the iMac is better than the version before.
Summary: Supposed to be Apple's newest IMac as per Amazon add. I received an over 6 month old produced model that did not even have the newest Mountain Lion software installed! Caused issues with data migration and had to down load and install Mountain LIon over the installed Lion software. When I order the "Newest Version" I expect most recent operating system installed and ready to run. I will never order a high end Apple product from Amazon after this.
Excerpt: I have always been a PC girl, but when we finally needed a new computer after my HP was only 3 years old, we decided to go big with the 27 inch screen Apple. So far, I really do enjoy it, but I don't think it is God's gift to technology as some people claim. I suppose it just takes a little getting used to, but I think it was a bit easier to find help with a PC.
Excerpt: This is a very very ok computer. It functions, you can turn it on. It works like a computer. I don't really like apple computers, I think they're ok. The applications on the computer confuse me. I don't feel like I get much out of their computers. I like PCS better because they just function differently. This mac computer will keep you safer from hackers but thats the only good I see in it. These computers are way over priced for what they give you.
Excerpt: This desktop computer is an extraodinary example of the new-age wave of computer technology. With its wonderful capability of being ablet to "wow" the person using it, it also looks good. The hours of productivity you would receive from using such a thing would keep you going for awhile: the videos, garage band, iTunes, and so much more.
Excerpt: This is an extremely well built operating system and computer itself. Mac's idea of combining a monitor and the hardware is convenient and innovative, however it is extremely over priced for the lack of modifications available. I will say that it is very stable and you will certainly not need a new computer for at least a decade, but you will keep that same hardware configuration for all ten years.
Excerpt: Let me start out by saying that I have never been a huge fan of macs, not having the standard two buttons and all, using the control and command keys to perform basic functions, etc., etc. So I suppose I am a little bit biased. This particular model is a bit nicer than the older Macs, everything is built into the monitor, CD player and everything, no bulky tower to look at or a bunch of wires everywhere.
