No notification of manufacturer's defects or lemons

K "K", Amazon
18 September 2012
  • Summary: Although I just bought a new laptop not too long ago, I have owned 4 Macs before. Half of them were defective. Thank goodness for Applecare extended warranty. I just found out that a significant problem I've been having with my iMac is a manufacturers defect. They did not notify me of the problem, did not recall the defective computers, and will not repair it since it didn't manifest in the form indicated by last year.

I would not buy from this vendor again !

udm2ed, Ebay
25 October 2011
  • Summary: A lot of parts had been stripped out. The vendor covered himself by including photos and basically saying " what you see is what you get ". The front of the iMac was cracked in 2 places, likely this happened during shipping, as the packing was haphazard.

A great computer, but.......

Alfred T. Miles, Amazon
1 July 2010
  • Summary: There is no doubt that the iMac is a great computer. I purchased it Feb 2010. The reason I spent considerably more than I would have had I bought another PC was for Apple's reputation for outstanding product quality but mostly for their well deserved reputation for excellent service. So why did I rate it just two stars? Within about two weeks after purchase, the caps lock light on the wireless keyboard stopped working.

Bad component quality and support

Jason R. Iinuma, Amazon
6 June 2010
  • Summary: First the OS for Macs are great and a user will experience very few if any real programming problems.Interface is easy to use and the ability to use bootcamp or paralells to run windows is great also. The forums and myself have reported that a major problem is the quality of the internal parts of the Imacs. You can google it and go to all the mac forums and you can judge yourself. IMacs are having a notorious problem with their motherboards/logicboards.

POOR AVCHD / BLURAY SUPPORT

kev6677 "TECHNO JUNKIE", Amazon
5 June 2010
  • Summary: Unbelivable that macs do not support AVCHD or bluray nativelly .Anyone who has bought an HD camcorder in the last 3 years will be frustrated trying to use a mac to edit there high definition videos. APPLE's solution is either to use there own codec which either creates very poor quality videos almost like standard definition video or creating huge files 5 times the size of your original.
