Summary: For the 4th time in 1 1/2 years, the CD/DVD drive on my Acer Aspire is no longer working. I purchased the Acer in July of 2011 as a replacement for a Dell that I'd had for more than 6 years. By October of 2011, the CD drive on the new Acer no longer worked.
Summary: This machine worked for less than 2 years and then it would only light up the blue "On" button and the fan. Fortunately, I bought an external docking station from Walmart for $20, so I could retrieve the info and also had backed up most of the data to my external 2 TB drive.
Summary: I have many Acer products. Less than 1 year after purchasing this item it would not read DVDs/CDS. I have sent the item back to Acer twice and still do not have a computer that works correctly.
Summary: I bought this computer just for light use in my home. The computer does have problems with some fan noise and DVD Drive in the CPU, Emailed Acer Customer service many times. But no response. Called them again, They want $99 before they listen to you.
Summary: My computer is fully set up and in use all day. I use a lit keyboard. The computer is normally very quiet but when under load, one hears the main drive chugging away. I also watch videos and again the drive can be heard when at speed.I have experienced no real problems and am well pleased with it.
Summary: When it works, it is great. However, a warning about Customer Service and Warranty. My computer is 4 months old. Went to boot it up last week, it would not boot up. Everything I tried, it would not. Called Acer Customer Service and went through everything I had tried.
Summary: I've wanted an Apple for a long time but haven't wanted to spend the money... I'm still there, and honestly this is the best desktop for the price that I have ever had. I've owned for for almost six months now and have never had a problem with it, and in fact I still find myself pleasantly satisfied...
